Tariffs in wind-solar hybrid auction remain nearly unchanged | Adani won 600 MW at Rs 2.69 per unit, while ReNew Power got 120 MW at Rs 2.70.
With only two participants bidding for worth 1200MW renewable power projects, only 720 MW is allocated to Adani and ReNew Power.
Experts are criticizing the aggressive ceiling tariff for this lack of interest. According to them, the capacity utilization factor(CUF) of this project has to be at least 30%, while the CUF of wind projects is usually 35% at the best sites.
- SECI conducted the auction of wind-solar hybrid projects worth 1200MW on Monday with only two participants.
- Adani won 600 MW at Rs. 2.69 per unit, while ReNew Power got 120 MW at Rs. 2.70.
- Experts blamed high ceiling tariff for low competition.
- Cost, money, and efforts to marry the two technologies also make the project more avoiding.
What the future holds for hybrid power
Recent auctions have seen bids for wind power at around Rs 2.80 per unit, and Rs 2.55 for solar power. Experts have raised their voice against the aggressive ceiling tariff set by SECI. Very few developers have knowledge of executing both solar and hybrid power. It may take a few years before hybrid projects catch the eyes of developers.
