As per the new Marvel Sony Spider-man deal, the web-slinger will enjoy a longer stay at the Marvel Cinematic Universe
That Spider-man 3 announcement is breaking the internet. The Hollywood Reporter recently released its Studio Executive Roundtable with top executives from major production houses in Hollywood — Warner Bros, Universal, Paramount, Universal, Disney Amazon and Netflix sat around answered some much-needed questions.
The conversation eventually took a turn towards the Marvel-Sony Spider-man deal. As per the last announcement an untitled Spider-man 3 movie will start shooting summer 2020 along with a crossover movie. It’s evident that Morbius and Venom do have Marvel Cinematic Universe references but only Spider-man is allowed to crossover.
While Sony Pictures has always made the Spider-man movies none saw the success and fan love as Tom Holland’s version. Marvel Studio Head Kevin Feige had long dreamed to bring fan favourite Spider-man home and managed to do so for 2016’s Captain America up until Avengers: Endgame.

Disney’s Horn quipped about the fan reactions to the movie, “The fan base, which is important to all of us, seemed to really respond to what Tom and his folks have done before with our people. They like the fact that the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Kevin Feige were involved [in the two Spider-Man films]. We heard feedback out there that suggested that joining forces once again was probably really a good idea.”

When asked Sony’s chairman Tom Rothman about a Marvel Sony Spider-man deal resigning, he commented, “I hope so… I think this was a classic win-win-win. I think it was a win for Sony. I think it was a win for Disney. I think it was a win for fans and moviegoers. The only thing I would say about that is that news cycles and the rhythm of negotiations don’t necessarily overlap…I think we would have gotten there and the news got ahead of some things.”
But the most interesting part of the conversation is where Tom Rothman confirming they’ll be resining the sharing deal once the current 2 movie deal is over. Its widely know that Sony wants to make Spider-man 4 and coupled with this piece of information from the horse’s mouth. One can easily deduce that Spider-man 4 will have the MCU touch to it.
The display of camaraderie between the two executives and the confirmation of resining the deal fans can expect Tom Holland’s spidey to stay in the MCU for as long as it pleases the fans.
