- TimesJobs conducted a survey to measure how friendly Indian workplaces are for LGBTQ+ communities.

- Around 70% of people were comfortable working with LGBT community colleague.
- Media and Entertainment came out as the friendliest industry for the community followed by BPOs and IT.
Still a long way to go for the community
India still has a majority of people suppressing their sexual orientation. Last month we saw Dutee Chand, the first Indian athlete opening about her sexuality. Obviously, she is not the only athlete from LGBT community, all other are afraid of how our society will treat them after knowing their sexuality. Even in this survey, about 44% people expressed that they don’t come out with their sexuality because they will be judged. Around 27% feared of people making fun of them.

To make this community more comfortable in workplaces, organizations should step forward with educating their employees, and try to make the environment more and more diverse.
