For all of us who love this country and are willing to do our part to make sure it lives up to its highest ideals – now’s the time to fight for what we believe in. Join us at https://t.co/Kboaxi3MVL. And I’ll see you on the campaign trail as soon as I can.— Barack Obama (@BarackObama) April 14, 2020
“If there’s one thing we’ve learned as a country from moments of great crisis, it’s that the spirit of looking out for one another can’t be restricted to our homes, or our workplaces, or our neighborhoods, or our houses of worship. It also has to be reflected in our national government.”, says Obama in the video.
Adding to it, he insists —
The kind of leadership that’s guided by knowledge and experience, honesty and humility, empathy and grace — that kind of leadership doesn’t just belong in our state capitols and mayors offices. It belongs in the White House.
“And that’s why I’m so proud to endorse Joe Biden for President of the United States.”
Here comes the Dark horse
Barack Obama’s endorsement has taken the form of one of the most powerful surrogates for Biden at the time when political campaigns have not been able to gain momentum due to the pandemic.
Brad Parscale, Trump’s reelection campaign manager, said —
Obama spent much of the last five years urging Joe Biden not to run for president out of fear that he would embarrass himself and now has no other choice but to support him.
“Obama was right in the first place: Biden is a bad candidate who will embarrass himself and his party,” he added. “President Trump will destroy him.”
Watch: Barack Obama released a video to announce his endorsement of former Vice President Joe Biden’s presidential campaign:
Taking a jibe at the current administrations, Obama said —
“So our country’s future hangs on this election. And it won’t be easy. The other side has a massive war chest. The other side has a propaganda network with little regard for the truth. On the other hand, pandemics have a way of cutting through a lot of noise and spin to remind us of what is real, and what is important. This crisis has reminded us that government matters. It’s reminded us that good government matters. That facts and science matter. That the rule of law matters. That having leaders who are informed, and honest, and seek to bring people together rather than drive them apart — those kind of leaders matter.”
What would this endorsement mean for Biden?
Barack Obama’s endorsement could mean more than what meets the eye. It has the potential to unite the democrats and urge the youngsters and progressive voters to rally behind Biden, owing to the solid faith that Americans have in him.
Furthermore, this would bag most of the African-American votes as well. The many Americans, who didn’t vote for Biden in the primary election, might be driven to do so in the upcoming 2020 US elections considering that the nation wide respect and trust that Obama gained during his tenure as the President of the United States — and is more than enough to authenticate Biden’s capabilities to lead.
As a response to the endorsement, Biden tweeted, “Barack — This endorsement means the world to Jill and me. We’re going to build on the progress we made together, and there’s no one I’d rather have standing by my side.”
Obama’s endorsement serves as the most significant element in consolidating Democratic party’s factions and reclaiming the White House for the Democrats.
Will Obama’s endorsement be the ticket to presidency for Biden!? We shall keep DKODING the other side of the story.
