Over the weekend celebrated director Zack Snyder discussed his work during Justice League panel at fan organised Justice Con. Here’s what we to expected and what happened
Snyder is probably the most sought out director in the Hollywood right now! With much love and support from fans, his Justice League vision is finally coming to fruition. Since 2017 theatrical cut of Justice League released Snyder’s ardent fans have been demanding for the release of the director’s original vision with #ReleaseTheSnyderCut.
Zack Snyder’s Justice Con Panel
The hashtag soon converted into a full-blown ‘The Snyder Cut Movement.’ Snyder himself fuelled the movement further by giving fans teases of his version of the league. WB finally gave into fans requests and Justice League Snyder Cut was announced for its streaming platform HBO Max at the start of this year.
Over the weekend Snyder was present at fan-organized event, Justice Con. It is a virtual gathering for fans and casual onlookers alike. Along with Zack and Deborah Snyder cast members, Ray Fisher and Ray Porter, cinematographer Fabien Wagner and storyboard artist Jay Oliva were present in their own panels.
In a recent interview, the 300 directors gave an insight about what to expect from his Justice Con appearance. He said, ‘I am gonna show a clip.’ Further adding there’s teeny little another announcement as well.’ And as usual, twitter went in a complete meltdown.

During his panel, Snyder pulled the curtains back on his cut and revelled that it’s roughly 214 min long and it’s yet to be decided whether its a full-length movie or a mini-series. He reiterated that the Justice League is largely about Cyborg (Ray Fisher).
He also addressed the theatrical cut of his work (he hasn’t seen it yet). He reassured fans that they’ll get his vision only denying any use of Joss Whedon’s work. He said
I would set the movie on fire, I’d destroy it before I used a single frame that I did not photograph.
And about that teeny tiny clip… Snyder gave fans a good look at Superman’s black costume in a 15-second clip during the Justice Con.
The Evil Superman
A deleted scene from the JL theatrical version showed a revived Man of Steel walking past the black rejuvenation suit. Since then fans have been dying to see Henry Cavill’s Superman donning the Black Suit. Indeed Snyder shows that teeny tiny clip to fans as a surprise.
Reportedly Snyder has brought back a lot of Clark Kent’s story arc that was left out in Joss Whedon’s version. However, for him, it’s important that Superman goes through the entire ‘morality’ construct to define his relationship with humanity.
I love the idea of Superman having to reconcile his morality, reconcile his place on Earth, reconcile his love affair with Lois and how that affects, the way he relates to humanity as we all do with the normal relationships we all have in our daily lives. When we see Superman grapple with those things, he becomes a lot more relatable.
Ryan Reynolds’ Green Lantern Announcement
Recently the news surfaced that Ryan Reynolds is set to return as the Green Lantern for Snyder’s Justice League. The original cut of Zack Snyder’s Justice League was supposed to have a Green Lantern post-credit scene.
Given Disney has no immediate plan for Deadpool and Reynolds’ support for the Snyder Cut fans can totally expect a character announcement at this point.
When flooded with questions about the Green Lantern’s appearance in his 214-minute long cut. Snyder stayed coy neither confirming nor denying the reports.
The Darkseid Rises
The first teaser trailer clip of Snyder’s Cut was of Wonder Woman looking at an old image of Darkseid somewhere in a cave. Fans are eager to know more about the villain since the theatrical cut really didn’t explore the character.
There are a bunch of deleted scenes that are making their way back into the HBO Max version. Previously Snyder too teased fans with a Darkseid image on Twitter. It’s a high possibility the Sucker Punch director might give us another glimpse into his mighty villain.
While Snyder was cautious about spilling any spoilers about Darkseid much he rather gave fans a much better look at Steppenwolf and his concept art design. We now see how ferocious he was supposed to look. However, Darkseid actor Ray Porter had his own panel spoke at length about the character.
A Peek Into Robert Pattinson’s Batman?
Snyder also gave a glimpse into Ben Affleck’s Batman during the interview. Especially from the times of Batman V Superman, he further discussed his character arc in Snyder’s Cut. He spoke about how we have seen only Bruce Wayne by far. Sure there was a lot of running around in the Batman costume but the character interacted mostly as ‘rich’ alter ego Bruce Wayne. Snyder is going to fix that! He also seems pretty pumped up with Matt Reeves take on the caped crusader.
It is interesting how Robert Pattinson and Matt Reeve’s Batman is supposed to be the younger version of this Batman. However, the two universes are different but it’ll be amusing to see a tease of Batman finally from Snyder’s eyes. Hopefully, it’ll also give us a glimpse into Reeve’s Batman as he is also adamant to showcase the ‘humane’ side of the caped crusader.
However, during the Justice Con panel Batman only appeared in one of the hand-drawn designs by Snyder while he was explaining details in his restored aspect ratio.
