Britain’s Prince Harry along with better half Meghan Markel put several allegations on the Royal family in a ‘tell-all’ interview to ace television show host Oprah Winfrey.
We all have seen The Crown (so has Prince Harry) and we know what a scandal looks like for the British Royal family. Unfortunately, we got to witness one ourselves in our lifetime. Duke and Dutchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markel spoke to Oprah Winfrey in an exclusive tell-all interview which aired in the US and UK on Sunday.

The Harry-Meghan-Oprah Interview
To start with Oprah’schat’ with Harry and Meghan, where no issues were ‘off-limits’ is definitely the scoop of her life! In the interview, the couple spoke about the hardship they have faced and the challenges they met during their brief role as a Royal couple. This interview is going to be the highlight of Winfrey’s career – one doesn’t usually get it from the horse’s mouth especially the Royal horse. And Oprah got a Megxit exclusive!
A series of allegations were made about the functioning of ‘The Firm’ aka the Royal Family.
- The most explosive revelation comes with Meghan’s confession about having suicidal thoughts during her first pregnancy. “I just didn’t want to be alive any more,” she said.
- Meghan further claimed that Kate made her cry during the dress rehearsal for the Royal wedding.
- Prince Harry who joined the ladies later revealed his father Prince Charles ‘stopped taking his calls’ once he stepped out of the UK.
- Harry further explained Netflix and Spotify deals as he was financially cut down from the family in early 2020.
- Further, the couple revealed the palace was concerned about the colour of their first-born Archie’s skin.
- On a good note, the couple revealed they are expecting a ‘girl’ probably by summertime.
And certainly, the interview did what it was meant to do, it divided and polarized the audience. While some are all the way #TeamMeghan, others are demanding to further strip the couple of their royal titles. The Hollywood stands by the ‘caring and empathetic’ Meghan while the Brits seems to be infuriated by the couple’s act of washing dirty linen in the public.

Worldwide Reaction to the Oprah Interview
Just like the viewers the media too had a divisive reaction.
The Guardian quoted Meghan in their headline ‘I didn’t want to be alive any more’ so did the New York Times. The New York Post headlined ‘Throne under the bus’, French newspaper Le Monde called it ‘the latest crisis’ for the Royal Family. You get the drift?
Harry and Meghan’s side of the story is just that ‘their side of the story.’ The accusations made by them have no proof but just the similar tone to Princess Diana’s infamous interview to BBC. That she notably regretted over time. That was the last straw for British Royal family. It’s said that the Queen asked Di and Charles to divorce after that.

But we are in 2020, the claims of racism and enduring mental trauma aren’t taken lightly. While Meghan accuses, she was denied help the question that comes to mind is who will deny her that. Both Prince Charles and Diana got help when crisis hit their marriage. Furthermore, her ‘fear for Archies life’ in absence of a title is not Palace’s doing. The rules were set long before Queen Elizabeth came into power by King George VI.
Per protocol, the great-grandchildren of the monarch are not princes or princesses, except for children of the eldest son of the Prince of Wales.
Hence, children of Prince Willaim and Kate Middleton are titles Prince and Princess.
What’s In Store for Sussexs Now?
The Duke and Dutchess of Sussex have an inevitable need to be heard and found their opportunity unfortunately in Queen’s gravest time when her 99-year-old husband Philip is recovering from a heart surgery. Would you consider doing that to your family?
What’s interesting is the couple moved out of the UK citing the pressure of constantly being in the public eye. Now by giving Oprah the interview of this magnitude, where do they think they can hide? Surely, mental health issues are vital, racism is unacceptable and the first year of the marriage is always the hardest but there is a time and a way to speak about it. Dissing your family on the worldwide platform in a tell-all interview is certainly not the way.
One thing is for sure, ‘woke’ Hollywood that’s also a sucker of good gossip is certainly going to love them! Leaving behind the Royalty Harry inherited and Meghan got by marriage – the couple chose to be the glamour royalty that fades with time – what an exchange!
And as far as the scandal is concerned. Queen Elizabeth and the Monarchy will still thrive but can the Royal couple survive it?
