Daniel Craig as James Bond is back and the new No Time To Die Trailer shows us why…
Just as theatres around the world reopen, MGM decides to tickle the audience with 007 excitement! Daniel Craig’s final James Bond movie, No Time To Die, recently dropped its second trailer. Initially set for a March 2020 release, the movie will now hit the UK on November 12, and the US screens on November 20.
As Forbes reports, if Tenet’s box office collection is anything to go by, international movie release is certainly profitable. After Christopher Nolan’s Tenet witnessing a promising return, which was a must-watch in a theatre, it is clear fans are willing to go out for lucrative movies. The British spy drama is definitely falls in that category. It is special for many reasons but the new trailer gave fans just the right one to buy a ticket on its release.
The New No Time To Die Trailer
When news first broke that Craig will return for James Bond franchise’s 25th film, fans were ecstatic. The movie had its ups and down with the change in directors, Danny Boyle to Cary Joji Fukunaga, and staying untitled for eons. Craig’s fifth appearance as the MI6 agent 007 makes him the third actor to play James Bond in the most number (5) of films.
No Time To Die will see Bond enjoying his retirement in Jamaica after the events of Spectre (2015). But things change as his old CIA friend Felix Leiter played by Jeffery Wright comes looking for help. Wright is reprising his role after a long gap, with only mentions in previous iterations.
Watch: No Time To Die Trailer
The action-packed spoiler-free trailer brings back picture-esque locations, high octane Aston Martin car chase and the, not quite, Bond girls. Craig can be seen jumping off a bridge in his signature Savile Row suit. The new 007 Lashana Lynch also made a bold appearance rubbing shoulders with Craig. Ana de Armas and Lea Seydoux also made an appearance amid endless flipping cars, running motorcycles, gunfire, explosions and outrageous stunt work. The long-standing criticism of no feminine representation in Bond movies will finally come to an end with this one!
Further, the trailer packed everything that a Bond movie could be and packed some more. Oscar-winner Rami Malek’s antagonist Safin took the centre-stage in this trailer. Fans got a good look at his scarred face. It’s promising to say the least.
The New Bond Villain
Director Cary Fukunaga would be first Asian-American to direct the British spy movie. What he brings on-screen looks like the most wanted Bond villain ever. The trailer establishes that Malek’s Safin wants only ‘revenge’ and ‘intends to kill millions.’ And after a number of petty disappointing villains in previous movies, it’s about time Bond deals with one played by an equally good actor!
“James Bond,” Safin (Malek) says in time honored Bond villain manner. “We both eradicate people to make the world a better place. I just want to be a little tidier.”
Nonetheless, whatever he plans here clearly ups the ante from Spectre (mild terrorism and data harvesting,) Skyfall (ex-spy wants to take down Judy Dench) or Quantum of Solace (where the bad guy wanted to do something with water in South America).
On the other hand, wanting to kill ‘millions’ and being ‘tidier’ about it, Rami Malek lights up the screen as Safin. The dismay on his scarred face is pure evil and you’d appreciate it if you like the writer is looking for an era-defining closure to Daniel Craig’s time as James Bond. Malek who has Bohemian Rhapsody and Mr Robot to his credit among others could be the villain Craig’s Bond deserved but didn’t meet over the course of the last 4 movies.
Previous rumours and the trailer slightly hints at the death of Craig’s Bond, Lynch’s ascension to 007 title further brings credibility to the thought. However, as Bond history affirms and the title suggests this is No Time To Die!
