Biden’s first presidential decisions target Trump’s policy legacy with 17 Executive Orders, with immediate effect.
Right after his inauguration, the 46th President of the United States Joseph R Biden Jr., is all set to make a landmark entry into the White House. His first official decisions are set to undo a lot of decisions that former President Donald Trump made in his term.
Biden will end the construction of the wall on the South Border, as soon as he takes the oval. This will be followed by lifting the travel ban that Trump imposed on a particular Muslim-majority countries. Next, Biden has affirmed that his administration will extensively work on the conservation of the environment and healing the country from the COVID-19 outbreak. Therefore, another point on Joe Biden’s checklist for his first day in the oval is rejoining the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Paris Climate Accord that Trump historically withdrew from, leaving the global response to climate change in shambles.
Biden is set to sign the above-mentioned orders and enact on his agendas right away. With 15 executive orders, Joe Biden will be the first US President to make this many presidential decisions in a day. Before Biden, two presidents each have signed only one executive action each right on the first day of presidency.
Watch: Biden’s sweeping executive orders to revert Trump’s policies
Biden’s Surgical Strike on Trump’s Legacy
Biden’s list of agendas go much deeper than just COVID-19 and the environment. The new president is determined to restore racial and social equity in the country and will deploy federal agencies for the task of reviewing all of Trump’s policies that are discriminatory in nature. This includes revoking orders that barred non-citizens from the census.
Additionally, all the federal employees will mandatorily have to take pledge to uphold the independence of the Justice Department. Another Trump order that Biden is set to revoke is the “1776 Commission” which was aimed to “promote patriotic education” in the United States.
Plenty of similar changes are scheduled to be executed in the first ten days of the Biden administration. In the upcoming days, Biden will also be revoking the Pentagon’s ban on transgender Americans from joining military services. This will be followed by ripping off the Mexico City policy, Trump’s order to ban US funding for any international organization that aids women with abortion.
However, Iran missing From Biden’s Day One Agenda
Biden has, from time-to-time, objected to Trump’s decision to step out of the Iran Nuclear Deal. The decision by Trump has given a massive impetus to Iran’s nuclear ambitions. Biden assured that he will restore the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) between the two countries that was originally introduced by the Obama administration. However, as of now, the plan doesn’t appear anywhere on Biden’s blockbuster presidential executive order list for the initial days in the Oval Office.
