The ‘Modi-Jaitley Relationship and their Dare for INDIA – to be a Global Superpower’
It will be safe to say that Arun Jaitley has had a remarkably prolific career and amongst several of his achievements – It will be significant to lay-bare how he played an instrumental role in both saving and shaping PM Modi’s political career.
Modi may not have vocalised his grief in as many words but Jaitley’s death will classify as one of darkest hours in the history of Modi’s Prime Ministerial tenure.
Modi-Jaitley Relationship remained rock solid for it was built on the robust foundation of mutual respect and trust. Strange, as it may sound but they both would seek counsel from each other when in doubt or during the formation and rolling out of strategic policies .

Critical link between old school of thought BJP and Modi’s BJP
More so, Arun Jaitley was a critical link between BJP hard liners and the BJP of Modi. Their camaraderie was evident after the Godhra riots.
When both public and party opinion tuned anti Modi in light of multiple charges against him – it was Arun Jaitley who came to his rescue.
Despite the senior BJP leaders like Atal Bihari Vajpayee and the RSS expressing huge discomfort in continuance of Modi’s chief ministership Jaitley’s loyalties stayed undeterred.
But fate had other plans. Ironically Arun Jaitley was subsequently tasked to seek Modi’s resignation.
It was only natural , that this ask could have been a turning point and put the Modi-Jaitley relationship in jeopardy forever. Jaitley reached Gandhi Nagar, where both leaders carried a long meeting and media was awaiting the news of Modi resignation. The meeting was over and Jaitley had done his bit in the interest of the party and nation at large.
If he hadn’t played the role of ‘Chanakya’ to perfection at the time, India would not have seen ‘Modi – The Prime Minister’.In other words, it was Arun Jaitley who heralded a whole new era of national politics under the leadership of Modi.
Arun Jaitley – The Leader
Jaitley’s leadership qualities starting surfacing around his ABVP days in Delhi university. He was sent to jail during emergency. Locked up with the big leaders of those times. The burning desire to learn the nuances of politics lead him to use his time in detention to absorb free flowing first hand knowledge.

Arun Jaitley – The Great Politician in him was born during emergency and his jail days. After that, he started to address large crowds in the universities and this is how he tasted first level fame.
Thereafter, he continued his studies and completed Law Degree from Delhi University – Law college. Post his academic completion he started practicing in Delhi High Court and made friends with best legal counsels of India and nurtured those relationships till the very last.
His unmatched ability to maintain, sustain and honour relationships earned him huge respect across parties, media houses and courts . Despite political or philosophical differences he continued to invest in relationships and therefore became a go-to trouble shooter for BJP in times of crises.
Modi-Jaitley Relationship – The New Chemistry
Its worthy of mention that both Modi and Jaitley were two different personalties, very different nature, very different philosophies of life yet a very successful and winning combination.
Though it is believed that Arun Jaitley’s initial orientation leaned towards the old Vajpayee school of thought but eventually gravitated towards Modi’s style.
It was then the world met one of the most successful Finance Minister’s of India.
Their collective vision for New India was further fortified with Arun Jaitley’s audacious implementation of policies that changed the trajectories for India’s substantial growth.
Here’s a list of the top 5 policies implemented by Arun Jaitley

Well, how can we not talk about demonetisation? Sources from the inside corridors of BJP do tell that Modi and Arun Jaitley were never in sync for demonetisation but not that Jaitley had much say in the decision.

However, he offered full support once post the announcement by Prime Minister Modi and openly discussed the impact of demonetisation in his interviews , tweets and columns.
Modi-Jaitley Collective Vision: ‘India – The Global Superpower’
There was a time, not long ago, when the India’s economists worried how a struggling, young nation like India would feed, house and clothe its teeming millions.
That was then. Before Modi-Jaitley era!
Now, India is among the world’s top largest economies – resilient, stable and growing. This path to supernatural success has been lit by the great Modi-Jaitley‘s relentless hard work for building India inspite of all odds and adversities.
