US President Donald Trump has found new competition in Kanye West for the Presidency. The rapper via a tweet announced his stand for November 2020 elections.
Kanye West said in the tweet, “We must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future. I am running for president of the US.”
Kanye West For US President
The hip hop star gave an Independence day surprise to his fans and fellow Americans. However, his intentions were made up years ago. Back in August 2015 at MTV’s Video Vanguard Award, he first made his intentions known to a worldwide audience. He ended a rather long 11-minute speech by saying, “yes, as you probably could have guessed by this moment, I have decided in 2020 to run for president.”

However, in following years he took a rightward shift and mingled with US President Donald Trump. He infamously wore a red baseball cap with Trump’s campaign slogan Make America Great Again during his White House visit and said things like about the President like, “I love this guy.”
But now it looks like West has refound his calling and is ready to stand in the contest behind Republican Donald Trump and Democrat Joe Biden. He found support in tech billionaire Elon Musk and closer to home in wife Kim Kardashian West.
KKW who is studying to be a lawyer like her father Rob Kardashian also visited Trump in the White House to campaign for change in the US Justice system. She got a sentence of three women of colour, cut short from the US President.
Is Kanye Eligible?
In theory, everyone has a right to contest for the presidency of the United States. And yes Kanye is eligible to produce sneakers and he does make the best sneakers in town, Yeezy!

But the Presidency is a different thing. For starters, the deadline to file independent candidacy for US President has passed in many states like New York, Texas, Indiana, North Carolina, New Mexico and Maine. So about 102 electoral votes critical for winning are already out of question. Further, South Carolina, Florida, Michigan and Oklahoma deadlines are approaching fast.
So to put it mildly, Kim has better chances of being pronounced an attorney general than Kanye West of being the US President!

The 4th of July Message We Missed
While Kanye had his 4th of July firework show and internet was busy having a field day out of it. Former Governor of California and actor Arnold Schwarzenegger had his own Independence Day message out for America. The Republican tweeted a video message on the social media website about the American Dream of being more equitable.
In his brief Independence Day commemoration message, Arnold Schwarzenegger addressed the pandemic, as well as the Black Lives Matters movement spiralled by the death of George Floyd. He said, “We have Americans that cannot breathe, except on ventilators. Who cannot breathe because of a knee on their neck, because of oppression and racism.”
In his political career, Schwarzenegger has seen two terms as a Republican Governor. In his first term from 2003-2007, he supported the controversial redistricting reform for retired judges, vetoed legislation that legalized same-sex marriage and once infamously called his legislative opponent a girlie-man. However, he actively opposed Trump’s wall plans and worked for climate change issues

He showed some better wits in his second term between 2007-2011, he introduced the balanced budget amendment became more centralist and continued his work with climate issues.
An immigrant himself, Schwarzenegger went on to press the migrant issue with an anecdote of settling down in the US. He said, “When I came to this country, I had no money, absolutely nothing… I will never forget the day when I raised my hand and took the oath of citizenship.”
He spoke about the ‘American Dream’ of equality should be ‘as true for a Black child in Minneapolis as it was for a white bodybuilder born in Austria.’ And most of all he pressed the concerns for wearing a face mask in the dreadful times of Coronavirus.
The Way Forward
So how about we ask Kanye West to step aside and instead back the ex-Republican to take a shot at being POTUS. The greatest bodybuilder of all time can wear sponsored sneakers for the run to the White House. Because America can surely use some sensitivity for the near future!
And quite honestly, we are as disappointed as Kanye with the two people chosen to lead the USA at this crucial time in human history. So, Trump and Biden can watch out for The Terminator! Probably, Schwarzenegger’s message has given us better hopes for tomorrow.
And as far as Kanye is concerned, the rapper is known to do outrageous campaigns for his work and there’s surely an album in the pipeline.
