If not worse, Joe Biden was not any better than Donald Trump in the presidential debate. It’s high time former Vice President needs to pull up his socks and step out of his comfort zone.
The first debate of the U.S. Presidential race was definitely an unpromising start. Neither of the two men at work were able to send across their message effectively. In fact, consistent personal jibes and failure to put forth their vision for America disappointed the entire world. However, more than Trump, the bigger disappointment comes from Joe Biden in the round one of presidential debate 2020 . Trump’s performance was exactly now the majority of people expected, loud, conceited and deceitful.
From Biden, America and the world expected more.
Scrutinizing Joe Biden’s election journey hitherto, it seems that the former Vice President is the most effortless presidential candidate in the history of the United States. Actually, a little too effortless, at least past candidates might have pretended how much they crave for it, if not really. Or maybe he is solemnly adhering to his ‘play-safe’ mantra, in which case he needs to pump up because this is getting really tiresome.
An opponent like Donald Trump who is always in headlines, was no less than a how-to-win-presidential-debate encyclopedia for Biden. And yet, it was an underwhelming sight to watch Joe Biden unable to knock his opponent down in the first presidential debate.
Viewers weren’t able to spot a future leader in Biden through the screens, not just the enthusiasm but the facts too were missing in the arguments.
Joe Biden had just one job — To Keep His Lead Against Trump, Intact
With all the revelations about President Trump along with his statements that were largely being seen as a threat to democracy, elections were comparatively easier for Biden.
America was vouching for the Democrat leader. Not because he is better than Trump but because he is not as bad.
But, it would be safe to say that he failed to a very large extent. He lacked charisma and looked lost at times, and debating against a man who was difficult to be refrained from speaking, amplified it 10 times.
It Seemed Like Donald Trump’s Trap. If yes, then he succeeded
The Republican candidate came out as a bully in the first presidential debate 2020. He was terribly loquacious and intimidating. However, this can be Trump’s trick too. He has no plans for 2020 presidential elections, no agendas to promise to the people. To make the matters worse, he has been circled by unending media publications and outrage (for which he himself is to be blamed).
In such a case, President Trump needed something to sail through the first face-off. And truly speaking, his opponent was not much of a hard nut to crack.
It looked like all Trump did was to provoke Biden and speak without a stop. His series of unremitting groundless arguments kept coming in the way of Biden’s statements. However, a trick is as bad as its failure.
Donald Trump cannot be blamed for doing this because Biden actually fell for it
Though it was highly unpresidential of a candidate to not let anyone, including the moderator, speak during debate. But what else can be done when there is a dearth of agendas and when it is, well, Trump.
Joe Biden, unwisely, retaliated almost every time Trump tried to provoke him. He asked him to shut up, called him worst President ever and kept forgetting his lines while listening to Trump’s interruption in between.
While the democrat supporters were all set to cheer for their leader from their homes, the applauds faded away at subpar performance of the former Vice President.
Truth be told, it was not as bad as Trump’s. At least he didn’t respond with mere ‘no’ or ‘it is fake’ instead of stating facts while being questioned.
Not that Biden was all bad throughout the presidential debate — he came across as more dignified and at some points, addressed directly to the people watching from their screens. He was also able to give a good fight to Donald Trump in a few segments. But in order to stay intact in the lead, Biden needs to level up by a huge margin for the coming events.
The U.S. Presidential elections 2020, held on Tuesday in Cleveland, Ohio, called for the arguments of the two candidates on major issues like coronavirus, racism, law and order, healthcare, safety of elections, Supreme Court, and much more.
