Today under the banner of NEFOWA Noida & Greater Noida Flat buyers staged a protest at Central Secretariat with a demand of getting their dream homes or Jail.
Buyers from Stalled projects of Amrapali, Unitech, Jaypee, Eath, Supertech, Rudra, Premia, Shubkaamna, Airwill, Today homes, AVJ heights, Rajput builders, Sampada Livia, Ansal API, Morpheus Prateeksha and many more today started their march under NEFOWA towards Parliament, the demand was to reach parliament and give their letters to the government or to get arrested in doing so! despite of the cold weather Ladies Elderly & kids started assembling at Central Secretariat metro station with slogans against the government’s lethargy against their issues.
The public mood conveyed the irate state they have reached due to govt apathy, despite electing this government with complete majority in Centre as well as state and paying all levels of taxes on time buyers said that they have not received anything from them except carrots on a stick and the issues remain as is, despite having 4.5 years rule at centre & 2 years at state level the government has not been able to break the nexus of builders banks and Authorities, it now seems that the govt like its predecessors became a part of this nexus, as soon as the buyers shouting slogans started marching towards parliament they were arrested and taken to the parliament street Police station, post that the remaining buyers joined them with their banners and demanded from police to release their fellow harassed buyers, Mr. Sukpal Singh dressed himself in a patient’s attire with Oxygen mask & carrying blood transfusion bottles to show how people are dying due to the stress they are facing because of this nexus, being financial, mentally & physically drained of the life force he presented the actual state the buyers are in currently. After almost an hour the arrested buyers were released, post that ALL of the buyers headed towards Jantar Mantar to continue their protest.
The Demands that the buyers raised were:-
1. Governments both centre and state should take solid steps to start the construction, if needed in buyers benefit they should bring an ordinance to get ample budget allocated for reviving the construction In the stuck projects.
2. Banks should be immediately asked to give EMI waivers, and no interest to charged further till the buyer gets possession
Protesting buyers further stated that if we have to follow the lengthy process of getting justice via Supreme Court then why should they give Vote to the elected leaders from next time! Even after making “Home for everyone” an election manifesto current governments seems to be favouring the corrupt builders and Authorities.
Amrapali buyers stated that by going to supreme court have reignited their hopes of getting their homes built by NBCC, but the problem of funds still remains, the process of Auctioning the builders properties and generating funds from selling of unsold flats will take a lot of time and to support this Government should take the responsibility of getting the fund needed to start the construction.
NEFOWA team later went to the PMO to handover their Memorandum and stated if the govts do not pay heed to these demands NEFOWA will continue to fight for the same, that it was also decided that ALL buyers from stuck projects will celebrate Christmas & New Years on DND where from 25th December onwards the buyers will do a protest every day on DND.
