Britain has to ratify a withdrawal agreement with the EU before leaving if it wants to avoid a chaotic “no-deal” exit. With a no deal exit driven by Boris Johnson aka Bojo, is Britain entering a phase of Chaos?

- Brexit is an abbreviation for “British exit,” referring to the U.K.’s decision in a June 23, 2016 referendum to leave the European Union (EU). Nearly 52 percent of British Voters i.e more than 17 million people had voted to leave the EU during a divisive referendum held in June 2016. Turnout for the poll was more than 72 percent.

- Former Prime Minister David Cameron, who called the referendum and campaigned for Britain to remain in the EU lost the campaign, and announced his resignation the following day.

- Theresa May, replaced Cameron as leader of the Conservative party and prime minister, The deal May negotiated with the EU was rejected by the House of Commons three times. She shelved plans to put it to a vote for a fourth time, after the changes and compromises she was willing to make angered many senior members of her party.
- She stepped down as party leader voluntarily on June 7, 2019, after facing severe pressure to resign.
This Boris is no Becker
The Chief Architect of Britain’s Brexit plan Boris Johnson, has just been elected the leader of the Conservative party. And now officially became the UK’s new Prime Minister. Boris Johnson has been appointed as the new Prime Minister of the United Kingdom after Theresa May resigned over her failure to lead Britain out of the European Union.
- UK has managed to avoid crashing out of the EU without a deal by extending the negotiating period twice. This did mean it was forced to participate in the EU Parliament elections held on May 23. Britain can leave the EU before October 31 if it chooses to, either with a deal or without. On July 23rd, 2019, Boris Johnson, the Conservative Party leader, former Mayor of London, British Foreign Minister, and editor of The Spectator newspaper, was elected Prime Minister.
- Johnson had campaigned on a platform to leave the EU by the October 31st, 2019 deadline.
Boris Johnson, a hardline Brexit supporter, is prepared to leave the EU without a deal. If Britain leaves the EU without the ratification of a deal in what is known as ‘Hard Brexit’, there will be no two-year transition period. The U.K and the EU are meant to negotiate a new, long-term trade agreement during the transition period. In the absence of a deal, WTO rules will come into effect.
- BOJO is renowned for his inflammatory remarks, casual racism and a hard-line Brexit agenda – with a “do or die” commitment .
- BOJO is determined to get UK out of the EU by October 31, regardless of the fears of hundreds of thousands of jobs that could be slashed.
- BOJO as PM will horrify many people across Scotland and will FAN their need for independence, to put Scotland’s future in Scotland’s hands.

- Surprisingly in April 2016, Boris Johnson had penned a column for the Daily Telegraph outlining the benefits of the EU, claiming that “the membership fee seems rather small for all that market access”.
- He did a U turn on his own position by coming out for Brexit as one of the leaders of the Leave campaign.

Why Exit the EU?
The sheer volume of people moving to the UK from the CEE states, and from southern Europe appears to have been a major factor in driving the Leave vote. It is noticeable, in parts of the country, such as London and the major cities, where there had long been foreign communities, the British were much more relaxed about immigration and voted heavily to stay in the Union.

However, in parts of the country which had recently seen a surge of new foreign workers, they voted heavily to leave. The Leave vote also surged in parts of the country where there was very little new or historical immigration, but where voters feared that immigration might also soon arrive in their neighbourhoods.
“Leave” voters based their support for Brexit on the EU Debt Crisis, immigration, terrorism and the control of Brussels’ bureaucracy on the British economy.

Leavers feel threatens the U.K.’s sovereignty: the country never opted into the European Union’s monetary union, meaning that it uses the pound instead of the euro. It also remained outside the Schengen Area, meaning that it does not share open borders with a number of other European nations.
A arguments against BREXIT is that leaving the EU would destabilize the British economy in the short term and make the country poorer in the long term as EU is the key market for Goods and Services exports.

After Brexit, the border between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland will become an international border. It’s now a soft intra-EU border at present. In the absence of a trade agreement, both the EU and the U.K. would be obliged to apply the WTO’s “Most Favored Nation” (MFN) rules on that border.
After Brexit, the border between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland will become an international border.
This would mean tariffs and regulatory checks on a border which is politically highly sensitive, because of its long history of conflict. Nonetheless, the crossing is economically extremely important to the economies of Northern Ireland and its southern neighbour.
Is Brexit Good for India?
India’s largest commercial bank SBI, in 2016 had suggested that the Brexit will benefit India economically. While leaving the Eurozone will mean that the U.K. will no longer have unfettered access to Europe’s single market, it will allow for more focus on trade with India. However Boris Johnson’s UK exits the EU, India will also have more room for manoeuvring if the U.K. is no longer abiding by European trade rules and regulations.
