Suicide Squad Character Reveals and Teaser
The details around Gunn’s The Suicide Squad are being kept under tight wraps at DC. The August 2021 release was filming till February 2020 till the outbreak of the pandemic. While DC has prominent releases before the sequel, Justice League and The Batman, the convention will regardless hold a panel for The Suicide Squad.
The social media savvy director finally tweeted a preview video of the event and clearly promised a ‘sneak peek’ of the movie and character reveals. At the start of the month, the cast of The Suicide Squad wished director James Gunn with the logo reveal for the upcoming flick intensifying fan excitement.
Some eagle-eyed fans, however, have figured out the characters that Idris Elba and John Cena are playing. Fan theorize, from Elba’s slow-mo appearance and growling voice in the video, that he is set to appear as Bronze Tiger. Similarly, Cena who is seen playing an arcade shooting game in the video ties him up with Peacemaker, who is known to favour guns in the squad.
Gunn, who also directed Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy movies, has been working on a semi-sequel to David Ayer’s 2016 version of the Suicide Squad. However Gunn’s movie is a standalone sequel to Ayer’s work – the films share the same universe but the story is not taking notes from its predecessor.
While many fans have demanded that the studio release the Ayer Cut of the original movie, WB has plans to not let the movement overshadow Gunn’s sequel.
Hence, the studio is holding a panel a whole year in advance hoping to create more publicity around the project. The production of the movie is yet to finish.
With Gunn known to be a pretty radical thinker, fans are expecting a more in-depth representation of DC’s most popular group of villains from James Gunn. FanDome is an opportunity for fans to connect with him and the stars and probably get more details about the upcoming movie.
More Surprise In Fold For Fans
DC is clearly hoping for Suicide Squad to make some noise as the panel gets a half an hour slot as opposed to 15 minutes for Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam and 10 minutes for Ezra Miller’s The Flash. The panel is set to feature Director James Gunn, where he will answer different questions from fans. Earlier, Gunn promised that fans would get a first look at the new Suicide Squad.

Although Gunn affirmed that he had total creative freedom in the movie without interference from the studios, a lot of fans are still anxious for a first look. The director also hinted at certain star appearances during the panel from both old and new DC faces.
After taking questions, there will be a squad showdown contest featuring members of the Task Force X. The showdown will be a fast-paced, no-holds-barred contest that will test each team member’s knowledge and survival skills.
Although 30 minutes seems like a really short time for all the exciting information to be revealed, WB promises it to be a very exciting half-hour nonetheless. Whether it’s a couple of images or perhaps a full trailer, a ‘first look’ in any form isn’t a bad idea.
James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad panel is slated for 12 PM PT / 3 PM ET on the 22nd August during the DC FanDome event.
