Trump’s covid-19 reports are a reality check for the delusional leader. How much more will America have to suffer because of the inestimable arrogance of a delusional leader?
The news of President Trump’s coronavirus positive report will have some far reaching effects on the elections. The stock markets are already on a downward trend ever since the news came out. It would be interesting to see whether the news of the President and the First Lady being infected by coronavirus would prove to be boon or bane for Republicans.
After the global outbreak of coronavirus which has so far taken more than 200,000 lives in America alone, the pandemic was largely being seen as the crux of the election. And while President Trump will never accept, the truth is that he did very little to contain the pandemic. Many people in America believe that President Trump has been unsuccessful during the pandemic and that Biden would have done better.
Whether getting infected turns out to be favorable or not for President Trump, he’s got his reality-check.
In a survey last month, 70% of Americans said that Biden is more caring and considerate towards the ones infected with Covid-19. Trump’s carelessness in taking appropriate precautions and avoiding public gatherings is not hidden from anyone. And just when the president told the nation that we are already past the pandemic, he himself got infected with the virus.
With evident failure of acting responsibly during the pandemic, Donald Trump had a lot to lose if coronavirus stayed the prime agenda before the elections. What he and the Republicans needed was headline management to divert citizen’s attention, which he successfully executed by nominating Amy Coney Barrett for the Supreme Court Justice position left empty by liberal jurist Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s demise.
However, things don’t seem to be going as planned by him.
With Trump’s latest Covid-19 reports testing him positive, the pandemic is back as the prime agenda of the elections. And this time, with a sure-shot proof that the President failed.
Covid-19 is the agenda of the election again and this time, Trump has no defense.
Let’s walk you through a gist of President Trump’s actions and reactions right from the initial reports of Covid-19 outbreaks in the US –
In February, when the world was already two months into the pandemic, President Trump kept assuring the US that nothing was going to happen. That there was nothing to worry about.
In March, when things got crazier, Donald Trump, very unwillingly, managed to set his foot forward and put travel restrictions. For a man who put the economy before lives, this move was a huge step towards fighting the virus. But in reality, it was all that he did. Of course, apart from continuously blaming China.
By the end of March, the US had become the first country in the world to report 100,000 Covid-19 cases. While the country soon underwent a lockdown, there was no improvement in the President’s approach and behavior. Blame games continued and he kept denying the severity of the pandemic, stating that the lockdown is only because he is in the pressure of the opposition. Otherwise, the country would have been fully functional during pandemic. Not only this, President Trump never wore a mask in public gatherings and continued his election rallies which saw the gathering of hundreds of supporters. Worse, he trolled journalists every time for wearing a mask, asking them to remove it while talking.
Watch: Tracking Trump’s response to Covid-19
The latest addition to Donald Trump’s incomprehensible arrogance towards the pandemic was the first presidential debate. He blatantly trolled Joe Biden for always wearing a mask. This was followed by the revelation that he carries a mask always but never wears it. In the past, Donald Trump has made fun of Biden for not appearing in public gatherings due to coronavirus saying ‘he must be in his basement’.
While no matter how much President Trump’s lunatic remarks on pandemic, masks and Biden satiated his ego, the truth is, getting infected gave him a tough reality check.
Of course, he will hardly accept, but the world knows.
Now that Covid-19 is back in headlines, it is not good for Trump
Trump’s Covid-19 reports have proved that he had been lying to America all this while.
The pandemic is still very much here. People are still vulnerable and the President’s efforts were never enough to contain the situation.
It has been testified now that it is essential to wear a mask and adhere to the guidelines laid out by the Centre for Disease Control. Social distancing is still as necessary as it was in the beginning. But the most important argument out of all is-
Will the president, who is unable to protect himself and the White House from a virus, be able to protect the country?
And the last one, which should definitely put the citizens of America on brainstorming mode –
Can America take the burden of Trump’s irresponsibility anymore? Because it is 21st century. And when the country should be setting new benchmarks of leadership worldwide, all it is doing is giving foolish reasons to the world to laugh at it.
