Joe Biden’s sexual assault accusation exposes hypocrite liberals; will Democrats have the guts to remove him?
In 2016, when President Donald Trump found himself under tremendous pressure following the leak of the Access Hollywood audio, he came up with a smart response. He brought with himself four women who had accused former President Bill Clinton of sexual misconduct — Paula Jones, Juanita Broaddrick, Kathleen Willey and Kathy Shelton — as guests to one of the presidential debates with Hillary Clinton, his Democratic opponent that year. The Republican eventually went on to become the president of the US and his lewd remark of grabbing women by their genitals and alleged mistreatment of several women did not cause any hurdle.

Four years since then, another Democrat is set to challenge Trump and it is former vice president Joe Biden. The 77-year-old is the Dems’ presumptive presidential nominee at the moment and just months before he got officially endorsed by his party to become the nominee, Biden has been hit by a sexual assault charge. His one-time Senate aide Tara Reade, 56, has accused him of sexually assaulting her when the two were alone in a Capitol Hill hallway in 1993. Biden was then the senator of Delaware. The issue has snowballed, although slowly after Reade revealed it in March end and filed a police report in April. On Thursday, May 7, Reade even told veteran journalist Megyn Kelly that Biden told her that he wanted to have sex with her.

The sexual assault charge against Biden has made the situation favorable for the incumbent president. As he had done with the Clintons, Trump is likely to make the most of the opportunity to derail Biden who has in recent times taken a lead over him, particularly in the wake of the White House’s dismal response to the coronavirus pandemic. Trump recently spoke on the issue but he did not take any hardline stance on Biden. He, in fact, sounded a bit sympathetic towards Biden saying such sexual assault charges come up when one has an established name.
Trump hasn’t butchered Biden on the issue yet
There is little surprise in seeing the president not attacking Biden in ways as many would have expected him to. The Biden issue has already created enough embarrassment for the liberal camp that includes the Democratic Party, mainstream media, and ‘#MeToo’ feminists and activists. If Biden was the man who united the Dems a few months ago to corner the Leftist Bernie Sanders to assure the liberals that they were not losing the battle either to left-wing or right-wing extremists, he has also irked a section of the party’s supporters post the Reade revelations. Suddenly, the former vice president who has shown himself to be women-friendly a number of times is being accused as fake and his party, a bundle of hypocrites.

For Trump and his loyal conservatives, this is a major boost. There is little need for the president to escalate the issue to the point of no return for Biden. The explosion that has come months before the Democrats’ national convention will damage Biden’s run to a considerable extent. The Democrats’ credibility has already been questioned — whether they back women only when it suits their convenience. It was just a few years ago that Biden came up with his women-friendly stance saying the society is obliged to presume that women who come forward with charges of sexual assault should be believed even if the accusations are flimsy. Could it be more ironic if the same words are now applied to Biden?
The issue with the Reade case is that it has triggered a political war and not one over moral standards. The Democrats have been struggling for some time now and every weapon they have used against Trump has mostly fallen flat. Their effort to impeach the president could not meet success. Their presidential fray looked uncertain till the moderate wing rallied behind Biden who looked feeble. People who were less hopeful about his chances, including former president Barack Obama, suddenly started feeling that he is the man to look forward to. The Democrats’ thinking is not difficult to understand: Biden is their only hope now and whether they like him or not, he is their only chance to beat Trump.

Beating Trump is so important for the Dems that even some of their top women members are not ready to give Reade much importance, with the prospects of the vice-presidential post that Biden has promised to give to a woman.
Why Dems, who back women’s rights, are silent on Biden?
The Reade allegations have now given the idea of Biden’s reliability a terrible blow. There’s no doubt that the Democrats aspire to have a moral lead over Trump. They always strive to show how unfit the incumbent’s character is for the top role, but first, they need to address the Biden issue with the same urgency. The liberals — be it the politicians or media — have not done things in the desired manner so far. The feminists, who need to address the patriarchy’s flirting with power, have also not spoken up in the same way they did against Trump or the accused judge in Brett Kavanaugh. If the Democrats consider themselves the best servants of women’s rights, why are they silent on Biden? If Biden still wins and becomes the president, then the Democrats will have two of their last three presidents with images of sexual predators. Good enough for a party that talks liberal politics?
Watch: The Democrat Hypocrisy – Can you joke about Tara Reade’s allegations?
This hypocrisy of the liberals is stunning and this is perhaps why the US today is witnessing the phenomenon of Donald Trump. If the current president is considered as the worst thing to have happened to the world’s oldest democracy by the arrogant limousine liberals, they have not set up any better example either. Even the theory that Reade, who once expressed her admiration for Russian President Vladimir Putin in a piece that was deleted later, is acting more to a script to prevent the Democrats’ return to power proves to be of little help for Biden. If there was indeed an instance of rape, Biden should be asked to step aside irrespective of the fact that Reade admires Putin or her lawyer is a Trump donor.
For Trump, Reade gives a weapon to hit three targets at once
For Trump and his loyalists, the Reade allegation is not just a rape accusation and there is less effort to build a conversation around the specifics of a woman’s rights. They are using this instance to club Biden with the Democratic Party and media to kill three birds with one stone. The charges against Kavanaugh are being raised again and again to make it evident that the Democrats never say the same when their own is under a similar attack.
Trump is a personality who is little affected by charges of hypocrisy. He has always been painted as a villain by the liberal media and political class. He has nothing to lose but has a lot to gain when those who pass verdicts over him on a daily basis get hit by the same charges. When the chips are down in the fight against coronavirus, the Biden episode gives Trump a remarkable opportunity to turn things around. It also allows the focus shift away from Trump’s administrative mess besides uniting the Republican Party which too found itself radicalized by the president.
