A Transformation Of Epic Proportions Gear Up To Dawn On The World After Coronavirus Pandemic.
Amid the coronavirus outbreak, there have been increasingly overwhelming changes. The global crisis has the world in a twist, will the grass be greener on the other side?
It was just a month ago when I was walking back to my home from work. The lanes dingy, stench of garbage lingering in the air, and a cacophony of deafening traffic assaulted my senses to no bounds. I could see quite a few people walking down the lane like me. Albeit with absurd looking masks on. The weather was gloomy and at that very moment I had an epiphany. The scene right in front of my eyes was much too dystopian in aura or was it just me?
- Coronavirus outbreak brings a dystopian world at our feet.
- The world after coronavirus pandemic has passed will experience social, cultural, political, and economic transformation.
- There’s a choice between global solidarity and disunity for the people of the world.
Cut to a month later, what we’ve seen unfold has been shockingly new, incredibly overwhelming, and threateningly dangerous. The dystopia that I imagined is, in fact, making its way for real now.
We are in a crisis; the kind that has ravaged humankind like never before. Perhaps the biggest crisis of our time. One whose consequences ahead will be unfathomable. Here’s DKODING what the world will be after coronavirus pandemic:
A Dystopian World In The Making
What happens right now is going to mould the future on the other side of this global pandemic.
The decisions and alternatives taken by governments and people will lay a path for years to come for the world after coronavirus pandemic. We will be inhabiting a different world, once the storm passes. These are testing times and most definitely not normal. Emergencies like these force mankind to take deliberate steps that it would not take under normal circumstances.
Some of the changes in lifestyle will last longer than the emergencies.
Schools and universities are shutting down physically to take forward their conduct online, people are working from home and social distancing is the new black.
Would This All Have Been Done If It Were For A Regular Time?
Covid-19 pandemic has altered the economy, culture, politics, and society and gotten their knickers in a twist. Crises tend to get dealt with measures that outlast them. It is due to this very fact that decisions should be made knowingly. The businesses are shutting down, rate of unemployment has increased hitting an all time high, and people are anticipating financial support from governments.
While this is happening, politicians, government, and administrative houses are more concerned about the crippling economy of respective nations. Measures are being taken to prevent the devastation, while people are dying at the hands of a deadly virus.
What leaders fail to understand is that the death of people will again bring down the economy. It’ll be a vicious circle all the same.
- We are developing brand new ways of living. Our tête-à-tête with technology has led us to connect and collaborate digitally.
- While this will last beyond the crises and prove to be quintessential, there are many facets of the world that are going to experience transformation.
Whether it’ll be good or bad, only time will tell.
The Bird’s Eye View
The pandemic will surely act as a catalyst in shifting the power from the West to the East. The response of Asian countries has been comparatively more reliable and quicker than Europe and the US. This might lay waste to the branding of the West that has stood against the ravages of time till now. The world will witness a shift from the US-centric globalisation to China centric globalisation.
Furthermore, Hyper globalisation will become a far fetched idea with countries looking up to their governments to protect them in the face of their own vulnerabilities.
Global Supply Chains Will Turn To Domestic Reserves
Global supply chains will be more mindful of the production. The companies will prefer efficiency over redundancy in the products that they receive, since the virus has left afflicted areas devoid of products. This in turn, will promote domestic reserves and backups due to increasing Chinese labor cost and technological advancements.
Cambridge Analytica 2.0, Is It?
This brings us to the technological world. While the measures against the pandemic have promoted digital networking rather than physical, this has empowered tech firms and continues to do so.
Tech companies will become even more powerful in the post-pandemic world. And as technology continues to rise and gain momentum, individual freedom and privacy will take a hit.
Many countries are implementing biometric surveillance in order to track the virus. While this has been proving to be fruitful in the current scenario, it will be nothing less than a curse for mankind later.
Watch: Facebooks Cambridge Analytica Scandal:
Cambridge Analytia’s data hacking will look banal in front of biometric surveillance, for the surveillance can track your heart rate, blood pressure, and body temperature. Thus, letting the government know your body and mind more than you do. If that’s not scary, I don’t know what it is.
The pandemic will birth more nationalists and promote the idea of self reliance leading to lesser international cooperation in future.
However, there’s one good that’s definitely going to come out of this crisis —Universal Healthcare. Health security will be given as much priority as terrorism and nuclear disarmaments are given.
- A major test of citizenship, solidarity, and administration, the coronavirus pandemic will make nations choose between global solidarity and disunity.
