Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Chief ‘Alok Verma’ was once again sent out on Thursday by a panel led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Alok Verma had taken up his post back day before after getting re-installed by the supreme court.
Verma was removed in October along with his second in command after they had accused each other of bribery and therefore vested interests sabotaging the investigations.
The whole episode has been a huge let down for CBI and it also raised question on Modi Government for demolishing the independence of the agency.
Supreme court had ordered the government on Jan 8th to re-install Alok Verma, but without any authority to take major policy decisions until the conclusion of the probe.
