Ivanka Trump appears in deep trouble after Trump’s tax evasion report reveals unlawful deflection of money to her bank accounts. Definitely not a good time to contest reelections.
The recent New York Times report on Trump’s tax evasion has placed him on thin ice. America thinks that their President is a liar, con and also, broke who is further working on the mission to break democracy. And the recent developments on the series of revelations and key notes from the report reveal that Americans are missing one thing. Their President is also blazing the bizarre trails of political nepotism. And quite contrary to what Trump planned, this political nepotism has landed his daughter Ivanka Trump in deep trouble.
One of the key notes from the report that is making headlines is Ivanka Trump’s involvement in Trump’s tax evasion.
Trump wrote-off $26 million in unexplained consultancy fees between 2016 and 2017. Out of the amount, $750,000 has been apparently reported to have gone to her daughter Ivanka Trump. Financial disclosures signed by Ivanka Trump in 2017 while joining the White House staff led to the anecdotes and landed her in trouble.
Reading Time’s explanation:
“Mr. Trump reduced his taxable income by treating a family member as a consultant, and then deducting the fee as a cost of doing business.
“The ‘consultants’ are not identified in the tax records. But evidence of this arrangement was gleaned by comparing the confidential tax records to the financial disclosures Ivanka Trump filed when she joined the White House staff in 2017. Ms. Trump reported receiving payments from a consulting company she co-owned, totaling $747,622, that exactly matched consulting fees claimed as tax deductions by the Trump Organization for hotel projects in Vancouver and Hawaii.
Ivanka Trump is the Chief Advisor to the U.S. President since 2017 but her role has consistently been grander than that. President’s daughter has often been the part of highly confidential meetings, the UN Summit of World Leaders and has often visited to meet the national leaders of different countries as the U.S. representative.
Now this is something that is going to make all the past Chief Advisors to the President of the U.S., jealous.
But recently, something new, actually four years old has been making headlines all over the country. And that is —
Donald Trump wanted Ivanka Trump to be his running mate in the year 2016.
The news came from ex-campaign deputy Rick Gates where he quoted Trump saying, “I think it should be Ivanka… What about Ivanka as my VP?”
Ivanka Trump, the woman with political ambitions, is now in trouble.
This is no secret in the White House that President’s daughter, Ivanka, has her ambitions with the 2024 Presidential run. Experts comment that Ivanka Trump lacks the political experience to serve as the Chief Advisor to the President. But when Donald Trump is in the oval, nothing seems unpragmatic.
Key responsibilities in Ivanka’s portfolio are highlighted as:
- women’s economic empowerment
- working family issues
- workforce development
- promoting STEM education
- combating human trafficking
The White House staff pointed out in 2019 that Ivanka Trump does not receive any paycheck for working with the White House where she reports everyday.
With money deflections of multi-million dollars, who would even care for a paycheck?
While serving the White House, she continued with her clothing brand business till 2018. This led to serious ethical concerns, majorly ‘conflict of interest’.
Twitter’s reaction to Donald Trump’s tax evasion
Once the news about Trump’s tax evasion hit the internet, twitter was flooded with reactions. Hashtags about Trump and now, the Trump family, are trending on twitter and citizens are sharing their tax pays drawing a comparison with Trump’s.
During a viral furor against Republican Leader Donald Trump on twitter, it’s unlikely of Democrats to not take the opportunity of synching with the voice of masses. Joe Biden took to twitter a sharp jibe against Trump by releasing the Tax Calculator where citizens can compare how much tax they paid as compared to Donald Trump.
