A man engulfed in flames near an area known as President’s Park South the U.S. Secret Service says
A man set himself ablaze outside the White House, Secret Service of the US confirmed. The incident reportedly occurred after 12:00 pm local time. The man was immediately provided first aid before being sent to the hospital.
The US Secret Service confirmed the incident tweeting about it, and providing the victim with first aid by the officials.
A spokesperson for the Washington Fire Department told, “I can confirm that we’ve transported one patient with burns from the Ellipse and we’re now on the scene assisting law enforcement,”
Many witnesses shared horrifying footage, one person wrote “The saddest thing I’ve ever seen. A person set themselves on fire in the park at the south lawn of the Whitehouse. Please pray for their soul.”
The White House has not yet commented on the incident.
