Hafthor Julius Bjornsson has won Europe’s Strongest Man for the fifth time.
The actor plays the role of ‘ The Mountain’ aka Gregor Clegane in hit HBO series Game Of Thrones, the real-life giant celebrated his colossal victory at the competition in Leeds.
Poland’s Mateusz Kieleszkowski and Georgia’s Konstantine Janashia came in second and third.
Hafthor is Icelandic Professional Strongman. He also managed to win the title of Europe’s Strongest Man for five consecutive years and he owned the title for the fifth time now.
The 30-year-old Hafthor, shared the news on his Instagram account, saying “ Europe’s Strongest Man for the 5th time! So blessed to have such great people behind me! Team Iceland baby”.
“Huge thank you to all my family, my beautiful wife and all my friends for all the help and support”. he added
Hafthor dead-lifted an astonishing 770 lbs, performing 10 repetitions triumph.
He also took part in the log lift challenge, the tyre flip, an Atlas stone life and then the ‘Pillar of Hercules’, whereby the strongest man holds two chains in order to stop two 350 pounds plus pillars from falling down.
Hafthor says his family inspires him to not to just compete but to win.
Speaking to Page Six Hafthor reveals “ I can lift 1,000lb and I eat 10,000 calories a day. I have to eat every two hours to maintain myself. I am flying there- but I can’t fit my hips or my legs in an economy seat, so I have to fly business…I have been working out every day to prepare for the competition”.
