People Pictured Sitting In Seats With No Backs On EasyJet Plane
A woman has been pictured sitting in an EasyJet plane with no backrest. An image that has gone viral on social media shows a female passenger sitting in an aisle seat that has no backrest, next to another seat also with no back.
Matthew Harris encountered the “unacceptable” situation as he was flying from Luton to Geneva in Switzerland.
Harris, a tech entrepreneur from Australia, posted a picture of the seats to Twitter which showed how the entire back section of the seats was missing.
The photo has already been retweeted by 1,700 times since being posted earlier this morning and also has 1,800 likes.
But EasyJet claims passengers were told not to use the seat in the interests of safety and say that passengers were not assigned it, but admitted that the row had not been blocked off.
Social media users have expressed outrage over the incident and described it as “absurd” and “illegal”.
One even joked: “The passengers behind have clearly paid for extra legroom. Now scoot over so they can put their feet up.”
Others, meanwhile, have hit back about the legitimacy of the image, with one writing: “There is no evidence to suggest that the passenger pictured was allocated that seat for the flight. She is not wearing a seatbelt and is perched on the edge of the seat indicating she was there temporarily waiting for something to pass by in the aisle.”
