Marvel Studio is all set to debut the mutants into their cinematic universe. Here are all the ways the new heroes can be introduced
The X-Men have finally come back to Marvel post, Disney’s acquisition of 21st Century Fox. The deal took place last March and just like their portrayal in the comics, we can finally see the mutants and Avengers allying together against the villains on screen.
But when can that happen? A full-fledged MCU movie featuring the X-Men might be a long way off, especially with the current COVID-19 situation. But the merger of Disney and Fox is no less exciting news for us fans, who have the ‘homecoming’ of X-Men to look forward to.
- How Marvel can introduce the mutants
- Mutants might play a role in the upcoming Phase 4 movie – The Eternals
- Scarlet Witch who is a mutant herself can become their creator
So while there’s a long wait for an MCU movie featuring the X-Men, we can still dig and find out what can be in store for us in the near future.
Thanos’ Snap Created The Mutants
We can assume that Avengers Endgame set a tone for Phase 4, with Thanos unleashing intense gamma radiation from his Infinity Gauntlet’s ‘snap’. The same energy might have paved a way for the new race of mutants or triggered the idea of them in the new Phase, as the radiation alters the parent’s DNA.
This alteration can lead to genetic changes in the children, giving them the powers they otherwise wouldn’t be born with. So this could have created a whole new race of mutants with special abilities. And if they already existed, these snaps from the Infinity Gauntlet could have increased them in notable numbers around the world.
The Eternals Connect
Many rumours and theories suggest that The Eternals could play a big role in introducing Marvel’s mutants. The upcoming movie to be released in 2021 could have a connection with the finale of Avenger’s Endgame by giving us interesting insights. The mutants could make a debut in the movie, and if not, they could at least be used as references for future productions.
Furthermore, there’s a strong possibility that the Eternals, known to be God-like beings, could have created mutants after their constant experimentation with the DNA. It’s plausible that the fresh clones of The Eternals would have been living as normal humans in a dormant state, but the gamma burst would have affected them in some way, making them realize that they need to save the world again.
The movie could also look back at how the existing mutants such as Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver, children of Magneto, were created in the first place.
Scarlet Witch creates the mutants
Scarlet Witch might play a major role if Marvel intends to introduce the mutants in The Eternals movie. Wanda and her brother Pietro are the mutant children of Magneto in the comics and they could be a way to bring mutants in.
In the comics House of M, Wanda took away their powers and wiped out the idea of mutants. But there could be a turnaround in the movie, and she might end up ‘creating’ them instead. That could be another way to bring in the mutants. This plot can be explored in the upcoming WandaVision series.
Mutants in Doctor Strange’s Multiverse
We can only speculate whether or not the mutants will be an active part of Phase 4, but there are ways the makers can bring them up in the Multiverse of Madness.
The idea of parallel universes or alternate realities can show us a glimpse of mutants’ existence, and maybe X-Men themselves. So there are plausible ways to bring them up until we finally get to see a Marvel’s mutants movie in Phase 5 based on one of these theories.
Furthermore, there’s news of Marvel intending to project Fox’s X-Men as an alternate universe. But that’s a conversation for another time!
