Iron Man might be dead but his presence is felt in the MCU through his Inventions. Spider-Man far from home saw Tony leaving AI EDITH behind for Peter. EDITH stands for Even Dead, I’m The Hero. (You get the drift!)
Here are some Tony Stark’s inventions that we can expect to see in upcoming Marvel Phase 4.
Tony The Genius
Tony Stark’s popularity compared to other members of the Avengers has always been a topic for debate. Played perfectly by Robert Downey Jr., Stark’s character and intentions have often been questionable for being selfish and insensitive. Remember Ultron?
Yet, it becomes a paradox seeing as Tony somehow chooses pivotal moments to display peak selflessness. No matter how many debates we have about Tony Stark’s actions, one thing we all agree on is he is a genius. The success of the first Iron Man movie created a solid foundation for the other movies in the three Marvel phases that spanned 11 years.
Originally making a fortune from selling high-grade tech to private contractors, Tony Stark made his first suit in captivity. After regaining his freedom, he invented the Iron Man suit and became one of the early members of the Avengers team. One interesting feature about Iron Man was how the suit always consistently had an exciting update for every next outing. After his demise in Endgame, many fans are eager to see how the MCU would carry on Tony’s legacy.
One thing is certain though, Tony Stark’s inventions will still feature heavily in future phases of the MCU. Here’s a list of STARK Tech to look out for in the next phase.
War Machine/Variable Threat Response Battlesuit
The war machine suit designed by Tony Stark has always been worn by Tony’s buddy boy, Jim Rhodes. Although, the US government initially tried to acquire the rights to own the suit, those plans eventually fell apart.
Since then, Rhodes has sported the iron soldier suit. Tony added upgrades to the suit when Rohdes gets paralyzed in Civil War. The upgrade continued till Endgame.
With Tony gone, we might see Rhodes take on more responsibilities. Besides, with the major upgrade Stark made for his Iron suit before Endgame, it’ll be a shame to not get an extensive view of what it can do.
Hulkbuster/ Mark XLIV Armor
Nicknamed the Hulkbuster, this gigantic iron suit masterpiece is every bit what its nickname says. Made from combination of auxiliary parts from the Mark 43 Iron Man model, this machine is supposed to match the Hulk in strength and ability. Launched from orbital tracking platform Veronica this suit beats the crap out of Hulk during Age of Ultron.
Tony made the suit to specifically tackle Hulk. Later worn by Banner in the Endgame battle, it was clear that anyone could wear the suit. We might just see Hulkbuster come out for some action in the future.
From retractable spider legs, an inflatable parachute and an AI, Spider-Man’s new suit is nothing short of top-notch. In usual Stark fashion, Tony left no stone unturned in inventing this masterpiece.
Spider-Man initially wore it in Spiderman: Homecoming, but we don’t see much of it till Infinity War, where it even let’s him breath in space. In the next instalment of the Spider-Man trilogy, we’ll get to see more of what the suit can do.
Tele Presence Headset
One interesting invention of Tony Stark was the Tele-presence headset that allowed him to navigate the suits without actually being in the suit. In Iron Man 3, there’s a scene on a bridge where Tony walks into the road without looking and gets run over by a truck. We eventually find out, he wasn’t in the suit at all. That kind of technology can come in handy for certain missions in the future.
Coming in as a replacement for JARVIS, we see FRIDAY at different points, work with Stark both in his lab and in his suit. She is even on override control of Spiderman’s suit, with instructions to shut down if the spidey ever acts out of order. If someone thinkers around Stark labs in the future, FRIDAY will be around to help.
Apart from being the foundation for a lot of the success of the franchise, Iron Man action figures still sell out wildly with every updated version. So now you know some of Tony Stark’s inventions to look out for in Phase 4.
