A character with infinite potential, envious accomplishments, and exploits in the Marvel comics, especially Avengers, is one hero that fans are definitely rooting for.
Marvel Studios faced murky waters when they decided to hinge the introduction of a franchise, that would span decades, on Iron Man back in 2008. The studio has succeeded in converting the comic book stories loved by fans into box-office blockbusters. The fame MCU enjoys is a result of much more than awesome CGI effects and witty acting.
The subtle methods used to introduce new characters and plots have fascinated fans for years. So, as MCU gears up for Phase 4, one thing is certain – we would see quite a few new heroes and villains. And although Marvel Studios is very professional about staying tight-lipped, the little information available promises fans that some pretty amazing new characters will debut in the next phase.

Enter Monica Rambeau
One such character is Monica Rambeau. Her potential and accomplishments in the comic books have made her a hero whose introduction fans are looking forward to. This is because the comic book Monica Rambeau signifies a much-needed cultural diversity and was a huge fan favorite. She developed the ability to transform her body into pure energy after absorbing a direct blast of extra-dimensional energy during a confrontation.

This twist of fate resulted in Monica Rambeau getting recruited into the Avengers. She was taught how to control her powers by none other than Tony Stark aka Iron Man. Her bravery, strength, and leadership qualities quickly made her rise to become a pivotal member of the Avengers. In fact, Monica Rambeau led the Avengers for a while and defeated many notable foes like the Skrulls.
During her spell as leaders of the Avengers, in the Beyonder Secret Wars II comic, Monica successfully led the Avengers through a conflict with the Olympian gods and battled an army of Earth’s super-criminals alongside other heroes.
When Monica Rambeau became an Avenger, she was dubbed Captain Marvel.
Thereby, she also became the first African-American superhero to join the Avengers team. This name was given in tribute to the deceased alien hero Mar-Vell, who had powers similar to hers. She would bear the mantle of Captain Marvel until Genis-Vell, the offspring of Mar-Vell decided he wanted to carry his father’s mantle.
From Captain Marvel to Photon
After Monica dropped the title of Captain Marvel, she became Photon. However, even that name did not last very long. After a traumatic accident, Genis-Vell decided he did not want to carry the mantle of Captain Marvel anymore. Instead, he took up the name, Photon. Although she protested at first, Monica still let Genis-Vell have the name, deciding to be referred to as Pulsar instead.
Her spontaneous energy, ability to navigate difficult situations, wits and entertaining personality make Rambeau a character that MCU cannot afford to sideline. The casting of Carol Danvers as Captain Marvel in the 2019 MCU movie raised a few concerns.
Fans felt MCU is trying to change the whole dynamics and undermine the entire Monica Rambeau storyline.
However, considering an adult Monica Rambeau will be making her debut in WandaVision on Disney+ gives fans a peek into what the future holds for this famous comic character. Furthermore, considering how Marvel likes to set things subtly in motion, there is a lot of room to suggest that Rambeau’s MCU journey will be long and eventful.
