From production status to scheduled release all the updates you need about upcoming Marvel Disney Plus series
Avenger Endgame not only marked the end of an era but also gave MCU a foundation for all the great stories to come. Marvel has managed the feat to achieve the right formula of franchise movie conversion. The studios strongest trait lies in its ability to merge all its businesses in one timeline.
Last summer Kevin Feige announced at the San Diego Comic-Con that the Marvel movie universe is going to include Disney Plus series as well. For the first time, Marvel TV shows will affect the main MCU timeline.
Heads Up! Disney Plus has been awfully quiet about its Marvel TV Series here’s an update
- Future of the MCU and the Disney+ Series
- The Falcon and the Winter Solider
- The Return Of Loki
- What If…?
- Finally The Hawkeye
Future of the MCU and the Disney+ Series
The future of the MCU is crafted within both movies and TV shows. With that in mind the studio announced five Disney Plus series in MCU Phase 4 along with the movies. These would span across six episodes giving enough time for the characters to discover new plot points in the MCU and to new breed of superheroes as well.
Marvel’s panel at the upcoming Comic-Con 2020 is most awaited as fans are eager for an update amid the Coronavirus shutdown. Here’s what you should know about the Marvel’s Disney Plus series before Comic-Con 2020.
The Falcon and the Winter Solider
The very first Phase 4 show coming from the MCU to Disney Plus will be The Falcon and the Winter Solider. The show will focus on the newly appointed Captain America, Sam Wilson who will be teaming up with none other than, the Winter Soldier Bucky Barnes.
Set to release late in 2020, the show will follow the events of Avengers: Endgame. The Handmaid’s Tale fame, Kari Skogland is directing the series. The filming began in November 2019 but stalled due to the Coronavirus lockdown. As the Czech Republic government has allowed TV and Movie productions in the country. The series production is to restart anytime soon.
This was supposed to be the Fall 2020 release from the MCU before the COVID-19 outbreak. WandaVision will showcase alternate realities and chronicles Wanda’s life with Vision. The show is the first leaps into the multiverse that Wanda creates for herself in her turmoil and heartbreak after losing Vision tragically. The teased looks of the show is nothing like Marvel has ever done. WandaVision’s concept art feels like the American sitcoms of 50’s.
Reportedly, despite the lockdown, Marvel has finished filming and VFX of the series. The series is now in the post-production stage. Recently, a new leak surfaced for WandVision that mentions minute details of the show along with multiple cameos from the MCU characters.
This series leads directly to the next Doctor Strange sequel. Wherein, Wanda Maximoff and Stephen Strange will be stepping into the multiverse of madness.
The Return Of Loki
Loki spin off series is set to release in the spring of 2021. The series will chronicle the (mis)adventures of the god of mischief, Loki.
With actor Tom Hiddleston reprising his role the series will take place in the present day. However, in an alternate timeline given the 2012 version of Loki disappeared with the space stone during the Avengers: Endgame movie.
The show features Loki affecting some of the major moments in human history. It sounds very interesting plot but only Loki knows how much damage he can cause. The events of the Loki series will also add up to Doctor Strange sequel. We can expect a return of the Soul stone sometime soon in the MCU.
This show will be the first animated series of the MCU Phase 4, here we will meet our beloved characters again. The show is based on the comics by the same name. The comic tells famous stories discovering how things could have played out differently if something was different. For example, the first episode title is What if Peggy Carter received the super soldier serum.
This show is especially interesting for the fans as there lay a possibility of many Fan Theories to play out. And well, getting to see our favorite characters again will be fun. The series will not likely have much influence on the MCU on the whole or the phase 4 storyline.
Finally The Hawkeye
Last but not the least, the final show slotted for the MCU’s phase 4 is the Hawkeye series on Disney Plus. The show will feature Clint Barton training Kate Bishop to be the Hawkeye. Its to be noted throughout the Infinity Saga not once Clint was pronounced Hawkeye. Hence, Kate Bishop will be the first official Hawkeye in the MCU.
It is also implied the series will follow the Clint and touch upon his time as the darker version of his character, Ronin as seen in the last Avengers: Endgame.
