Long Overdue The New Mutants Release
The New Mutants was developed by Fox Studio as an X-Men spin-off movie. Initially set to premiere on April 13, 2018, the movie got pushed back to February 2019. The reason was then impending Disney-Fox merger.
The horror movie produced by 20th Century Fox Studio required reshoots of some parts. That further delayed it to August 2019. At the time, reports surfaced Marvel Studio wants to re-shoot half of the movie.

The movie got bumped again to April 2020 after the Disney Fox Merger. Moreover, it was taken off the release grid at the outbreak of the pandemic. It is almost as if the project is jinxed and even third time wasn’t a charm for The New Mutants movie.
All the while fans kept pointing out how tight-lipped Disney is about the anticipated project. Just like the Spider-Man, an X-Men homecoming is expected sooner than later from the studio. Right before the merger, Fox managed to release X-Men: The Darik Phoenix which didn’t go down well either on the Box Office or with the fans.
Now, Disney has brought the movie back from the dead. However, it appears that the said reshoots never took place as the young actors aged quickly.
Who are Marvel’s New Mutants
Adapted from the comic by the same name, Marvel Studios’ The New Mutants movie casts Game of Thrones alum, Massie Williams as Wolfsbane, a Scottish werewolf. Actor Anya Taylor-Joy as Magik the Russian sorcerer, Stranger Things fame Charlie Heaton is playing Cannonball. Actor Blu Hunt is cast as Mirage, a Native American illusionist and 13 Reasons Why’s Henry Zaga as sun-powered Brazilian, Sunspot.
Alice Braga plays the group’s mentor. These five superpowered mutants are being held captive in a so-called jail or training facility. The trailer gives us a glimpse of the horrors to come. The mutant powers portrayed by far look interesting. The soundtrack by Pink Floyd ‘Another Brick in the Wall’ serves as a quirky take on, the whole Mutant situation.
Future of Mutants in the MCU
One can see the trajectory of the changes documented in various posters released by both Fox and Marvel Studios between the years 2018-2020.
Though unplanned, the movie marks MCU’s first stint in horror genre something that Phase 4 and 5 are aiming for. It is also the accidental X-Men offering that Marvel has to make after the Disney-Fox Merger. Currently, many rumours about Marvel Studios’ X-Men and Wolverine plans have surfaced.
For now, the New Mutants are at audience’s mercy on August 28.
