Fan Favourite Daredevil might return in a Christopher Nolan movie for the MCU.

Marvel Movies Over Television
With shows like Jessica Jones, The Defenders and Luke Cage all getting the bucket, fans of the Daredevil series played by Charlie Cox, rallied on social media in an attempt to prevent Hell’s Kitchen vigilante from suffering the same fate. Hashtags like #savetheDaredevil trended on social media as fans tried to show support for the superhero.
While it is not a hidden knowledge that Marvel has given preference to its movies over the TV shows in recent years. MCU’s Phase 4 presents an opportunity for some characters and perhaps their plots, to rekindle.
Agents of Shield’s Quake and Daredevil had been shortlisted as favourites to be introduced into the MCU in the new phase and it seems Daredevil is finally going to get the nod.
Although, there are rumours Marvel is setting up plans to give the Man without fear his solo movie. It is almost certain that a movie reboot would involve an entirely new cast.
The developing plans to include Daredevil into the MCU is fuelled by theories of him being Spiderman’s lawyer in the third instalment of the trilogy. Marvel fans are excited about the red-suited vigilante’s addition to the MCU.
Enter Christopher Nolan
Marvel’s pursuit of DC’s Dark trilogy director, Christopher Nolan, is further evidence of their intent to revamp the character’s story. Nolan who is known for his uncanny ability to make personal distinctive films has directed highly profitable Dark Knight Trilogy for WB’s DC movies.
Apparently, Kevin Feige wants to take ‘R rated’ route with the Daredevil. And Marvel heds wants Nolan to be involved. Some other classical movies he has directed include Insomnia (2002), Interstellar (2014), and Inception (2010).
Although, it isn’t clear in what capacity Nolan will be involved in the franchise. He has directed The Dark Knight trilogy as well as produced Man of Steel for the DC before. So, perhaps spearheading a Daredevil movie might be enough to tempt Nolan into producing another superhero movie.
Matt Damon as MCU’s Daredevil
Enter Matt Damon…
When Man of Steel spiralled DCEU, there was much speculation about actor Matt Damon following in the footsteps of his friend Ben Affleck and do a superhero movie. He told New York Daily News that he’ll be interested if Nolan is interested.
If Chris Nolan came up to me and said, ‘I want to do Daredevil,’ I would be in. Just putting that out there.”Actor, Matt Damon, 2015, New York Daily News
Whether Marvel studios will be able to recruit the services of Christopher Nolan or Matt Damon remains in speculation, but fans will no doubt be happy to have the renowned director rebooting a fan favourite superhero who is neglected for long.
With both Marvel Studios and DC intent on having Nolan on future projects, it will be interesting to see if Nolan decides to stay with his old bosses or if he’s looking for a new challenge.
Although, with Marvel’s prowess in persuasion, Nolan might just be offered a price which he can’t refuse.
