Marvel’s next big Baddie is here, a leaked action-figure gives a good look at the Eternals’ antagonist Kro
In a perfect world, Chloe Zhao’s Eternals would have been a month away from its scheduled release. However, in light of the public health emergency, Marvel Studios have further pushed its MCU Phase 4 release slate. That means fans will get to meet the new superhero in theatres a year from now.
Marvel’s Eternals has an ensemble cast of diverse actors. It is supposed to be the studios’ big-ticket release introducing a new superhero team. Director Chloe Zhao in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter admits to making the movie as a fan. Apparently, she has pushed the boundaries in a post blip MCU and found an inclusive direction for the franchise to move in.
A cast of Misfits
Marvel’s Eternals is a story about alien beings that are on the Earth for thousands of years. Yes, in the MCU Phase 4 we’ll get to see a story that spans thousands of years and still connects to the post-Endgame MCU. Zhao said, “How much further and bigger can we go after [Avengers:] Endgame? Because I’m not just making the film as a director. I’m making the film as a fan.”

The movie not only explores a diverse cast but also showcases the first LGBTQ couple on screen. Zhao tells, “I wanted it to reflect the world we live in. But also I wanted to put a cast together that feels like a group of misfits. I didn’t want the jocks. I want you to walk away at the end of the movie not thinking, ‘This person is this ethnicity, that person is that nationality.’ No. I want you to walk away thinking, ‘That’s a family.’ You don’t think about what they represent. You see them as individuals.” The movie’s synopsis explains,
The Eternals features an exciting new team of Super-Heroes in the MCU, ancient aliens who have been living on Earth in secret for thousands of years. Following the events of Avengers: Endgame, an unexpected tragedy forces them out of the shadows to reunite against mankind’s most ancient enemy, The Deviants.
Kro, Father Of Thanos
Marvel Head Kevin Feige confirmed the presence of the Eternals last December at CCXP Brazil and also shed light on their new form. He said, “We’ll see Deviants that will look, unlike any Deviants you’ve seen in the comics. This is a new form of Deviants we’re revealing in the movie.”
And now a leak gives fans a good look at Marvel’s new big baddie Kro. Because of the initial release date, Disney’s consumer product department was connected to vendors for the various movie tie in products and some of it managed to leak. In a new leak, an action figure of Eternals’ Deviant antagonist Kro has surfaced. And indeed it looks very different from the pink purplish comic book counterpart.
While the new design is not alarming for fans who want to see the Deviant leader in its full glory. The excitement has gone through the roof already. However, there’s another catch a previous leak suggests that Angelina Jolie’s character Thena is carrying a great secret and it could be a child as Eternals are not allowed to have a child. So fans speculate Thena can be the mother of Thanos! And knowing Kro and Thena had a long-standing affair in the comic it can be a plot twist as director Zhao wants us to remember Eternals are a family. It will also explain why deviants might want to visit a post-blip Earth. While one can argue that Thanos’ father was A’lras as per Endgame movie the possibilities are endless in the comic book world.
Since the end of the MCU Phase 3, fans had been contemplating the next big baddie. While the initial phases gave us unforgettable villains like Loki and Thano, seems like Chloe Zhao has managed to top it with the Deviant Kro!
Marvel’s Eternals cast Richard Madden as Ikaris, Kumail Nanjiani as the cosmic-powered Kingo, Gemma Chan as Sersi, Salma Hayak as the leader Ajak, Brian Tyree Henry as Phastos, Lia McHugh as eternally young Sprite, Lauren Ridloff as the super-fast Makkari, Angelina Jolie as the fierce warrior Thena, Don Lee as Gilgamesh, Barry Keoghan as Druig. Kit Harrington as the only human Dane Whitman.
