No Resurrections This Time
Marvel Studios’ Loki series has more to offer than fans can hope for from tying Endgame’s loose ends to the madness of multiverse
Hearing Loki’s neck snap at the start of Infinity War was worse than the end of the movie. The God of Mischief can’t be dead we thought, its Marvel we thought, as unbelievable, it was inevitable.
Our favourite Loki grew on the audience since Thor movie, from attacking the New York in 2012 to dethroning Odin to fighting for Asgard till dying at the hands of Mad Titan. His character arc came full circle in the last eleven years. But fans can’t get enough of him.
Heads Up! Loki series is set to tie the loose ends from Avengers: Endgame
- The Misadventures of The God Of Mischief
- Loki Tying into Endgame’s Plot
- TVA is Involved
Perhaps, it’s a result of his being Thor’s baby brother or maybe it’s due to his periodically brilliant schemes and ability to get out of the tightest situations. Viewers have come to enjoy him more than any other villain in the MCU.
Kevin Feige and the Russo brothers made sure to bring back Loki in the Endgame to set up a Disney+ series. The six-episode long series will follow Loki in different timelines.
The Misadventures of The God Of Mischief
The series is set to have actor Tom Hiddleston reprise his role as The God of Mischief. As reported the Disney series is a sequel to the events of Avengers: Endgame.
It was puzzling to some fans to see Loki again as he was killed by Thanos in Infinity War. But Marvel President Kevin Feige confirms the version of Loki featured in the series is the one that escaped with the Tesseract in 2012 during the Endgame time heist. Which writers recently confirmed was not planned aa set up for Loki series.
Apparently, Loki travels through different points in history influencing various events throughout the timeline.
Feige also pointed out that we would see Loki take-on more formidable foes, as he schemes his way through different events in history.
Scheduled to premiere sometime in spring of 2021 on Disney+, Marvel Studios confirms that the show will evolve and tie into other Phase 4 movies such as the Multiverse of Madness and WandaVision.
If that is the case, then we can expect cameos from one or two avengers at different points in the series. Marvel Studios’ Loki series casts actor Owen Wilson, Sophie Di Martino and Gaga Mbatha-Raw.
Loki Tying into Engame’s Plot
Hiddleston pointed out at Comic-con 2019 that the version of Loki the fans will see isn’t up to any good at that point. “You guys saw Avengers(2012,) right?” Hiddleston said. “So he’s still that guy and just about the last thing that happened to him was he got Hulk smashed. So there’s a lot of psychological evolution that is yet to happen.”
An exciting detail of the Loki series is its director, Micheal Waldron who was a writer on the new season of Rick and Morty and is also double-timing on the set of Doctor Strange 2. He says “viewers should prepare to delve into the mischievous world of Loki and perhaps it might surprise everyone how pivotal some of his actions were to the grand scheme of events that climaxed in Endgame.”
In set’s leaked photos Sophie Di Martino is seen wearing a cloak similar to Loki sparking rumours that she might be playing the role of Lady Loki. Perhaps, she would be the Greek god himself. We’ve seen Loki transform into Odin and pose as the ruler of Asgard and there have been instances where he took a female form.
But Marvel Studios has been very tight-lipped about the plot as usual, with the official statement only stating that viewers would be taken through his mischievous adventures. The official statement read:
In Marvel Studios’ Loki series, the mercurial villain Loki (Tom Hiddleston) resumes his role as the God of Mischief in a new series that takes place after the events of Avengers: Endgame.
TVA is Involved
Another interesting detail in the leaked photos is the Time Variance Authority (TVA) logo. Seem like they are finally set to feature in the series. Considering they are the authority responsible for monitoring alternate timelines and Loki would be jumping through the timeline, their presence makes sense.
With TVA’s presence and SWORD already existing into the MCU. It would be interesting to see how Loki will connect the dots from Endgame and propel further into the Multiverse.
