Heads Up! Marvel plans for Ghost Rider’s MCU ride
- Ghost Rider Production Grid
- Potential Villain for the Flaming Skull
- Ghost Rider’s Future in the MCU
Ghost Rider Production Grid
After much speculation, the big news recently surfaced about the reboot of a classic comic book hero, Ghost Rider. A production grid is in the works at the Marvel Studios meaning, the project is in very early stages. Although a lot, of production details, are still being tight-chested by the studio. One important detail we do know is that a new actor would be cast for the role of the Spirit of Vengeance.
Previously played by Gabriel Luna in Netflix’s Agents Of Shield series. Recent developments have suggested that the new Ghost Rider project will take a different path. Marvel boss Kevin Feige confirmed that fans should expect the return of Johnny Blaze instead of the Robbie Reyes, which already appeared in the MCU.
Potential Ghost Rider Villain
Actor Nicholas Cage famously played Ghost Rider in the 2007 blockbuster movie. Moreover, the original movie and its 2011 sequel Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance both were pretty good, it’s about time, a reboot to showcase a different plot. With features either one or a couple of villains from Ghost Rider’s extensive list of foes.

One villain high on the list – especially among comic book fans would be The Witch Woman. She is one of Ghost Rider’s earliest adversaries in the comics. She first appeared in #10 of the Marvel Spotlight volume 1(June 1973). The witch-woman is college student Linda Littletrees.
Memphisto a very powerful demon possesses Linda. He gave her the ability to control different types of fire. He takes full control of her body when her humane side would kick in. Ghost Rider was easily no match for her evil creativity.
The Witch Woman was heavily involved in the early story development of Johnny Blaze’s Ghost Rider and due to her interesting creativity and unpredictable nature. She was a very formidable foe for the chain slinger and would be a pretty badass villain for the reboot.
Another interesting villain would be Black Rose. Her real identity is indeed Roxanne Blaze, the late wife of Johnny Blaze. Back in the day, Roxanne’s storyline abruptly cut-short due to Marvel’s bankruptcy. Though, the storyline showed a lot of exciting prospects and might not be a bad idea for a reboot story (who doesn’t want to watch a man get tormented by his dead wife, right?)
Ghost Rider’s Future in the MCU
Whether Kevin Feige decides to use either storyline or pick from the long list of other villains the flaming skull has faced which include, Lilith, Zarathos, and even BlackHeart. Fans of the supernatural/horror genre of the MCU would be thrilled to see the flaming skull ride out on the big screens again.
It remains unknown whether the return of the Ghost Rider would be in an MCU movie or TV series. But we know the future phases of the MCU are actively seeking to develop the supernatural part of the universe. Marvel fans would certainly see a lot of black leather rider in the coming years.
