Captain Marvel 2 is one of the most anticipated movies of MCU Phase 4. Marvel’s first solo female lead’s sequel story has to be better than the origin story for various reasons.
While fans are divided on Brie Larson’s iteration of Carol Danvers, the admirers still outweigh the haters.

The studio knows the stakes of Captain Marvel 2 are really high. Not only in terms of fan service but also for transitioning from Phase 4 to 5. So, while the outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic hurt business and pushed the entire slate of Marvel Phase 4 due to production concerns.
It was rather a blessing in disguise for the Carol Danvers’ sequel story. Since originally un-dated movie found a spot in Phase 4 slate. Now the movie set to hits theatres sooner than later in July 2022.
Captain Marvel 2 Production Details
In a post-pandemic world now Hollywood is trying to restore some sense of ‘normalcy’ and getting back to work. During the past weeks, Disney resumed their TV and film productions like The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.

As per MCU Cosmic’s report, Marvel is going the Mandalorian way with Captain Marvel 2. Meaning, the studio is in talks with director of Star Wars: Mandalorian, Deborah Chow. Reportedly she is approached for multiple projects and Captain Marvel 2 can be one of them.
It is known that Marvel Studios is hoping for a female filmmaker as director for Captain Marvel sequel. The studio has already hired WandaVision scribe Megan McDonnell, for penning down the script of the sequel. Further, what we know for sure about the project is that it will be set in the current MCU timeline.
Deborah Chow, a Diverse Choice
The Captain Marvel movie was one of the baby steps by the studios in an inclusive direction. Introducing a female superhero to an all-Black cast for Black Panther movie the studio made its impression. In 2020, Marvel Studios is set to be a more diversified and inclusive platform.
The future phases of the MCU projects look more diversified in terms of cast, the productions, and even storytelling. 2021 release The Eternals is a good example of the inclusivity Marvel is aiming for. Apart from having an ensemble star cast ranging from Angelina Jolie, Salma Hayek to Kumail Nanjiani. It is also the first MCU movie solely directed by a woman. The movie is helmed by Chinese filmmaker Chloé Zhao.
Given Marvel’s affinity towards diversity, hiring Director Deborah Chow for Captain Marvel 2 won’t come as a surprise! The acclaimed Canadian filmmaker has directed two episodes for Star Wars: Mandalorian. She is currently working on the Obi-Wan Kenobi series.

Chow’s Previous Work and MCU Future
Chow has extensively worked in the sci-fi genre and in shows like Better Call Saul, The Vampire Diaries, Fear the Walking Dead and American Gods. She has the credible VFX experience after Mandalorian and she is not new to the Marvel universe. Previously, Chow has worked on Marvel TV’s Iron Fist and Jessica Jones.
Furthermore, with so many impressive titles under her belt, Chow is an undeniable consideration for directing the MCU’s most anticipated movie.
Now, it is certain that Marvel Studios is looking for a female director for Captain Marvel 2. It will be interesting to see what Deborah Chow and Brie Larson do together for Captain Marvel sequel. If and when that day comes!
