The Black Widow movie is going to propel some interesting storylines for upcoming MCU phase 4
In an ideal world, we should be discussing how awesome the new Black Widow movie is but alas! Although the announcement of Natasha’s solo movie was already anticipated. The events that took place in Avengers: Endgame created an unhinged plot-twist situation.
There have been certain plots developments that – despite the tight-lipped nature of the MCU board – have been quite predictable based on previous or anticipated events.
Heads Up! The Black Widow movie will propel many new plotlines into the MCU
- Black Widow Connecting Disney+ Shows
- The Red Widow and Winter Guard
- The Identity of the Taskmaster
For instance, it was not hard to predict that the half population Thanos snapped away in Infinity War, would return in Endgame. Apart from timeline jumps here and there during the previous phase, the MCU plot timeline has developed in a forward fashion.
Black Widow Timeline Connecting Disney+ Shows
With Natasha’s demise in Endgame, Black Widow movie is set to be an ‘Origin/What happened in Budapest’ story. The final trailer which released right before the pandemic hit us, does not offer any more clues about the movie’s plot. Apart from the scene featuring characters we already know of, the trailers haven’t really given much away.
Much of what we know includes the fact that the movie is going to serve as an origin story as well as answer the questions concerning Budapest.
The eagle-eyed fans have spotted some clues in the trailer related to Yelena Belova’s death and some leaked Lego toys. Also, the trailer features de-aged General Ross, who fans believe, can further spiral into the Super Soldier Program plotline.
There are rumours about Disney+ the Falcon and The Winter Soldier show delving into the program. Furthermore, apparently Marvel Studios is developing a Weapon X series as a prequel to the show. The series will introduce the X-Men and Wolverine in the MCU.
With Romanoff being the only member of the core Avengers team without a standalone movie, a solo movie seems perfect!
While Taskmaster is set to be the main villain of the movie there are certain plotlines Marvel might look at to explore in the future.
Red Widow and Winter Guard
For starters, the buildings we saw in the Black Widow trailer are similar to the ones in a 1992 one-shot called Soviet Super Soldiers. These buildings were a facility used to hold a certain Russian mutant man Mikhail Uriokovitch.
He had the ability to turn into a giant bear. Mikhail aka Ursa Major, was a member of the Winter Guard, along with another character from the movie Red Guardian (David Harbour).
If the plot tows along, future instalments could see the rise of the Red Widow, Yelena Belova. Considering the scanty background of the character MCU writers may find a way to integrate her into the new Avengers. She would further serve as a link to spotlight the Winter Guard if Marvel Studios considers it worth exploring.
Whether these theories are accurate or totally off-swing, fans surely would be eager to finally get a glimpse of the Black Widow.
Actor Florence Pugh is set to play Natasha’s sister and fellow Red room trained assassin. This is the actor’s first appearance in any movie franchise. Stranger Things fame David Harbour is playing the Red Guardian while actor Rachel Weisz is cast as MelinaVostokoff.
The Black Widow Villain
Taskmaster remains a mystery even though rumours persist that OT Fagbenle has been cast for the role. However, there hasn’t been any news about whether we’d get to see any cameo from the Avengers. Knowing Marvel, that possibility shouldn’t be ruled out.
Originally scheduled for a premiere in April, Black Widow will now hit theatres in November 2020.
