There are very few actors who own the character they’re playing. That you can’t help but think “this character couldn’t have been played by anyone else”. Vikrant Massey has given me more opportunities than one to say this. This little bundle of cute looks and mature performance never ceases to amaze the audience. Here are we telling you why this boy next door deserves even more respect as an actor.
From TV shows to movies to web series, this man has done it all with utmost perfection
It all started with
Born to a middle-class Christian family, Massey never let the odds go against him when it came to pursuing his childhood dream of becoming an actor. And at an age of meager 17, he starred in Kahaan hu Mein.
Though that went unnoticed, his big break came with Balika Vadhu where he played Shyam Madan and stole our hearts with his performance and our breaths with his looks.
The Mirzapur guy didn’t stop there. Slowly but surely this Massey was starting to make his place in television with Disney channel’s first original series Dhoom machao Dhoom, NDTV Imagine’s Dharam Veer and Zee TV’s Qubool Hai.
Form Small to Big
It wasn’t until 2013 when Massey finally made it big with Lootera starring alongside Ranveer Singh and Sonakshi Sinha. The man gave serious competition to some of his contemporaries as he further landed a role in Zoya Akhtar’s Dil Dhadakne Do.
We knew there is something special about this guy when people began talking more about him than Ranveer Singh.
His effortless performance shone in a film that had a huge ensemble cast.
On the Web Front
I started watchingAmazon Prime’s Mirzapur without knowing much about the cast members and was more than elated when I noticed Vikrant in the show.
He has seamlessly portrayed the patient and brainy Bablu Pandit who works as a conscience to his brother and partner in crime Guddu Pandit.
The audience connected with his character so well in just 9 episodes that it was actually difficult for most to witness Bablu being shot dead by Munna.
However his ultimate showstopper appearance was opposite Karan Mehra in The acclaimed series Made in Heaven. Though the scree time for his character Nawaab Khan was brief, Massey didn’t cease to make an impact with his impeccable performance.
His tumultuous love affair with Arjun, his betrayal and the final redemption he gets in the form of acceptance by his long lost love gives a sense of closure not just to Nawaab but to the audience as well.
Apart from this, Vikrant has also appeared in Broken But Beautiful and Criminal Justice portraying complex roles with ease and simplicity, making his characters relatable and basking praises left, right and centre.
What lies Ahead?
Vikrant’s rule at the big screen to reign as big projects like Yaar Jigri alongside Sonu Ke Tutu ki Sweety’s Sunny Singh which is to be released later this year.
The actor will also be seen in Seema Pahwa’s directorial venture Pind Daan opposite Konkona Sen Sharma and Alankrita Shrivastava’s Dolly Kitty Aur Wo Chamakte Sitare.
What future holds?
With film projects of major production houses in Bollywood in his kitty, it seems that the sky is the limit for Vikrant.
His acting potential goes beyond his cute looks and Massey will be an acting force to be reconned with in the coming years as well.
