Avengers: Endgame. All is well if it ends well. But did it end well?

Last year, Avengers Infinity War made for an interesting watch. It was an impressive film- with a tight storyline, sarci statements that were launched in between to keep the audience hooked and yes how can we not mention the action. That’s a given in MCU movies.

In the last movie, the bad guy Thanos won. But not before turning almost everything to ashes. Thanos took possession of the six Infinity Stones. And in the sad ending we lost most of Avengers. The audience was grieving at the loss of their favourite Avengers.

But soon grief turned into inquisitiveness as the audience started asking questions and wondering what will happen in the next Avenger’s movie?

Will any of the dead Avengers come back? Will there be new Avengers? Will Thanos reappear? Will he be more evil than he was?

The questions will be answered. But only in the next film. Which will be the last film in the Endgame series.

Avengers Endgame is now out. Did it answer the questions that troubled the audience or did it leave the audience more confused.

The long and short of Endgame

Firstly the duration is long. It is little over three hours.

Well some will argue that with so many characters to play with and to give importance too, one needs time. We do agree on this. With so many characters- from old ones to new ones popping in and out, you do need time. Then if you have to give a meaty role or a memorable line to each of the main characters, you do need a longish film.

But seriously who is complaining about the long duration! It is a MCU movie- time passes in a second. Because it is so damn engrossing. May we say confusing too. But there are colossal action scenes, emotional ups and downs, powerful dialogues and heroic moments. More than half of the time goes in keeping count of the characters and the twists and the turns. The Fans are not complaining!

The new movie is directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, as was its predecessor. Infinity War was left on a sad, teary note. The new film takes the melancholy in the film further. May we dare say to the next level.

Is the Finale of the series Fantastic?

Endgame is the 22nd MCU movie (starting with 2008’s “Iron Man” and including 2017’s “Spider-Man: Homecoming.

Just to give you the right perspective– Endgame isn’t a film for someone who hasn’t seen the previous films. You need a bit of a catch-up before you book your ticket.

The film opens on the main character, Tony Stark. He is the superhero who has been in most of the Marvel films- the count is 10.

DKODING | In the first scene of Endgame, Ironman emerges from the drubbing sustained in Infinity Wars. This scene is set to be an iconic cinematic performance for years to come.

Tony Stark is floating in the sky and sending a goodbye message to Pepper Potts (played by Gwyneth Paltrow). Tony is in a spaceship with no power – but we all know that a main character like Tony Stark will not die so soon.

Meanwhile, the remaining Avengers — Thor, Black Widow, Captain America and Bruce Banner – need to have a plan to bring back the Avengers so they can undo what’s been done by Thanos. The showdown has to be mega in every scene and in every sense.

There are new relationships and camaraderie – especially between between Captain America (Chris Evans), Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson)

The Avnegers cast is also joined by the Ant-man. Did we miss mentioning Hawk-eye? The Hulk is gentler. The Villian is deadlier. Thor gets great one liners. And there is Captain Marvel—she takes confidence and bravery a notch up.

The good part about Endgame is- unpredictability. Whenever one thinks the story will unfold in a particular way, it goes in another way. There are times when logic goes for a walk.

Did we warn you that there is time travel in the film and writers use it to solve problems. So remember there will be a whole lot of back and forth in the film.

But as most of the reviews are coming in, many of them are mentioning a lack of imaginative freedom and the story, like a horse’s blinders, does not let your imagination take a detour.

While there are others who feel that the best part of the movie is how it leaves you wondering that what is going to happen next?

Endgame, is the final piece of puzzle in the 22nd film of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s first decade – it is the biggest gift for the fans. Watch it in IMAX 3D. You will find it mind-blowing and mind-bending.
