Here’s a list of things not to do to ensure a healthy relationship.
Be it the New Year season or not, but the festive feeling always lurking in the air around us. And then amidst all it suddenly dawns upon you, it’s the new year.
It’s time to make all those resolutions, those changes and look forward to a brand new inning. Specifically, those changes that strengthen your relationship equation and experience with your significant other.
And yes, much like how in life its more important to know what not to do than what to do.
Applying the same thumb rule to our new year resolutions here’s a list of things not to do to ensure a healthy relationship.
Take him for granted
Simply because your partner is accommodating and kind doesn’t mean you take him for a ride whenever you can. The little gestures like complimenting him and supporting him will help your relationship to constantly renew and grow.
Check his phone
Nothing good can possibly come out of mindlessly snooping around. Your partner’s phone is a Pandora’s box you should never open. If you want to know something find the right moment and ask.
Fake it till you make it
Do not fake orgasms! A healthy relationship is all about open communication, and sex constitutes an integral part of it. Stop faking it and share your intimate thoughts and desires with utmost openness.
It’s not a competition. Even if you’re not telling him so directly, but just comparing him to your ex mentally, or with your friend’s boyfriend stop doing so. It’s just not healthy.
Tell a white lie or two
It always starts with just one innocent lie, but then to cover it up, there’s another and another. And then there’s no looking back. It’s better to steer clear of this vicious circle because it is the deficit of trust that can erode the foundation of the strongest of relationships.
Be too clingy
It doesn’t matter how long you have been with your partner, he can’t be with you 24/7. Space is one of the most important factors and more than often the lack of it can suffocate the life out of your relationship.
Your partner has a life that goes and stretches beyond you and that must be respected.
Bottle up your feelings
Talk to your partner about your feelings. Even if you think your feelings are a little illogical, it’s alright, share them with your partner and not mount them inside. Communication is the most vital element one that never fails to deliver.
Stop putting in the effort
Don’t be complacent about your relationship. It takes effort on a daily basis to make a relationship work. Never stop working towards strengthening your bond with him. One needs to invest in the relationship fully and wholeheartedly.
When a problem arises, talk it out with your partner. The problem won’t disappear if you don’t acknowledge it. Don’t sweep it under the rug, deal with it. Ostrich mentality and dodging the issue at hand only aggravates and never resolves it.
Hold a grudge
If you’re upset with your partner, discuss it with him. Don’t avoid the confrontation. Grudges are nasty and unnecessary. Do not maintain a mental spreadsheet of mistakes to get even in the next argument. Keeping score is never a good idea.
Let go and forgive and never forget that tomorrow you can make the same or worse mistakes too.
