Victoria’s Secret model Shanina Shaik announced that fashion Show is a no go for 2019.
The 2019 Victoria Secret Fashion Show has been canceled after 23 glamorous years. This shocking news was given by Victoria Secret’s model Shanina Shaik to Australian publication.
“Unfortunately, the Victoria’s Secret Show won’t be happening this year. It’s something I’m not used to because every year around this time I’m training like an Angel,” the Shanina said.
“I’m sure they’re trying to work on branding and new ways to do the show because it’s the best show in the world,” she added.
Shaik modeled in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in 2011, 2012, 2014, 2015 and 2018.
The 2018 show hit a record low in viewership with a 0.9 rating within the target demo of viewers between 18 and 49 years of age, with a total audience of 3.27 million.
The Wall Street Journal first reported on May 2019 that the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show wouldn’t be televised this year as the brand changed focus and were forced to “rethink” the annual sexy spectacle.
A memo was sent to Victoria’s Secret employees by Les Wexler, the CEO of L Brands (the parent company of the brand), which stated that network television wasn’t the “right fit” for the annual runway show anymore.
The show has remained a highly anticipated event for many years with A-list models like Bella and Gigi Hadid, Kendall Jenner, Behati Prinsloo strutting in racy ensembles. Past angels include Adriana Lima, Tyra Banks, and Naomi Campbell.
The fashion show has also brought out legendary performers like Rihanna, The Weeknd, Kanye West and Maroon 5.
