Funky bohemian vibes ahead!
Talent, beauty, and poise. That’s what defines Kate Hudson. But now you can add her to the list of ‘amazing fashion designer’ too.
The talented actress has now turned into an entrepreneur who has launched her first-ever-ready-to-wear line, and she calls it Happy x Nature (pronounced as Happy by Nature), which is a reflection of her free-spirited West Coast Style.
There have been so many times when I’ve been caught up in the vicious circle of dresses that look summery and cool but cost a bomb, and while I try to go easy on the pocket, the dresses just end up being drab and plain synthetic (a big no-no!)
But this awesome summer line is nothing but a breezy rescue with effortless pieces, from a floral jumpsuit to an off shoulder polka dot dress, to cute top and skirt pair-ups. And these are so trendy, that it’s perfect for that Coachella fest that you’re planning to go (or any summer music festival for that matter)
While an interview with the Marie Claire Magazine, Hudson said, “It’s like if you write a script – you write what you know. So I worked with Michele Manz to design this line for myself because I’m not going to stand behind something if I myself won’t wear it.” (Now that’s what we call dedication level)
Working towards a line that wasn’t just eco-friendly but sustainable too had to have a partner in crime or rather a partner in ‘good deed’ and for Kate, it was Danny Fujikawa, her boyfriend who helped her come up with the whole idea.
When it comes to naming her line, Kate told the Marie Claire Magazine, “I like ‘happy’, that word makes you feel good, but I wanted it to be about what the product was. I always knew we would lean towards a sustainable line and use things that were eco-friendly, so nature had to be a part of it too. So Danny just said, ‘Happy by Nature. That’s what people think you are.’ Though, I don’t think anyone is happy by nature. I think it’s something we all work at, but I think we all want to make nature happy.” (‘happy’ story for real!)
Now, let’s talk about a few clothes from the line that might interest you and make you wanna take on a shopping spree right away. To start off with, we chose to show you this summery off white top and jeans, a combination that never goes wrong. “This top is made from recycled water bottles,” said Kate. She explained that plastic water bottles were crushed and then turned into fiber that became this very top and the jeans as well.
And what’s even more amazing about this line is that Happy x Nature does not ship with plastic packaging, but their brand comes with a type of packaging that is all biodegradable (in 12 to 18 months), and no we’re not done yet! The tags on the clothing are made of natural fibers as well. And despite being so eco-friendly, the brand’s prices remain in an affordable $48 to $148 range. (Rs. 3,330 to Rs.10,269…that gives me a reason to ditch Zara stores this summer!)
As pretty as it gets, Kate named this flowy dress a ‘sunshine-yellow’ and dedicated it to her mom, Goldie Hawn, who always wanted an easy dress to wear on her vacation. She said, “We like to call this entire collection statement ‘casual’ because we want the clothes to feel like everyday wear but still catch people’s eyes.” (Dear Kate, congratulations, that dress surely caught our eyes)
So, moving on to a few more pretty pieces from the collection. We present to this ‘Solar Dress,’ that is designed to follow the sun. This one is a cotton maxi that emits happiness and is the ideal ‘at home’ dress for a summer dinner or a brunch date with your special one.
Jeans! The one thing that never goes out of fashion be it a ‘High-Rise Straight Jean,’ from the 90s. It brings in that missing vibe that you’ve been searching for. This one is a perfect high waist, mineral wash and comes in a classic straight-leg styling. This could be yours!
Your road trip photo shoots just get better when you look nice. And what could be better than this ‘Wanderlust Blouse,’ with a self-tie bow at the neck, smocked styling, and exaggerated sleeves. It’s so pretty, you’d want to wear it ‘round all the seasons. And what makes this blouse a unique one is that it is made from a fabric that was created from recycled bottles.
Another elegant addition to the dress section and this one is called a ‘Serene Dress.’ Well, that name is truly justified for the way it looks, truly serene. Comfortable and easy to wear, in a texture that looks so cool and summery, and with the tie-front and V-neck detail, just makes it all the more unique and pretty.
This one is our personal favourite, and it’s called ‘Floral Angel Jumpsuit.’ This jumpsuit absolutely justifies to its given name. And as the name suggests, there are positive vibes only, adorned with sunny florals on a crisp blue hue, is one summery choice that could never go wrong.
Ladies, stop wasting your time and money on dresses you’d wear just a few times. Log on to www.happyxnature.com and get your hands on these amazing pieces right away. And Kate, we totally adore your new line. They look pretty, they sound pretty and we’re sure they’ll make us feel pretty too!
