She recalled telling her husband, Brooks Laich, “You know I’m not straight, right”
Julianne Hough tied the knot with her husband Brooks Laich two years ago. And since then, she has been on a self-discovery journey. And she has been exploring herself.
Julianne Hough reveals she is “not straight”

The ‘America‘s Got Talent’s judge got married in July 2017. And the 31-year-old began her “massive transformation” four months into her marriage, she told Women’s Health for its September cover.
In fact, she bared it all for the annual “Naked Strength” issue. Julianne Hough admitted that though was undergoing a personal evolution, she was unsure and fearful of her husband’s reaction who is an NHL player and an entrepreneur. She was scared that he would not understand.

“I was connecting to the woman inside that doesn’t need anything, versus the little girl that looked to him to protect me,” she says. “I was like, ‘Is he going to love this version of me?’ But the more I dropped into my most authentic self, the more attracted he was to me.”
Now subsequently, Julianne Hough says they now “have a more intimate relationship.”
Now that the couple was more emotionally and physically intimate she was ready to open up about her sexuality. “I [told him], ‘You know I’m not straight, right?’ And he was like, ‘I’m sorry what?’” she explained. “I was like, ‘I’m not. But I choose to be with you.’”
“I think there’s a safety with my husband now that I’m unpacking all of this,” continues Julianne Hough, “and there’s no fear of voicing things that I’ve been afraid to admit or that I’ve had shame or guilt about because of what I’ve been told or how I was raised.”
