Some may perpetuate the idea of repeating an outfit as a fashion faux pas, but some celebrities have decided to rewrite the rule book, deeming that it is, in fact, chic to repeat. Outfits that celebrities wear are highly examined and heavily scrutinized, especially when it is on the red carpet. So when celebrities repeat outfits, you know the internet will talk. Luckily, these celebrities are happily fighting the stigma that repeating outfits is “uncool” and are proudly wearing red carpet looks they love, multiple times (and looking just as good the second time around.)
Here is our list of celebs who’ve repeated outfits on red carpet.
Tiffany Haddish
Tiffany Haddish has worn the $4,000 Alexander McQueen dress twice before on the Girl’s Trip red carpet and while hosting SNL. “Welcome again to my Alexander McQueen dress,” the actress said with a laugh when she took the stage on Sunday at the MTV Movie & TV Awards, 2018. The actress seem to love this particular white, halter-neck dress so much that she wore it four times in public. “I feel like I should be able to wear whatever I want, whenever I want, no matter how many times I want, as long as I Febreezed it,” Haddish said of her dress on SNL. At this point, though, the dress has paid for itself as one of Haddish’s most successful bits.

Cate Blanchett
Cate wore a familiar looking lacy Armani Privé gown to the opening gala of the Cannes Film Festival, 2018. The actress had actually worn the same piece in 2014 to accept her Best Actress award for Blue Jasmine at the Golden Globes. It was all reportedly a part of a movement called the Green Carpet Challenge, founded in 2010 by Oxfam ambassador and United Nations Leader of Change Livia Firth. Firth’s consultancy company, Eco-Age, works with major brands like Gucci and Stella McCartney to help them employ more sustainable business practices.

Kate Middleton
People actually remember this 2012 look that Kate Middleton recycled for a gala event last year quite well as she looked sensational both times – but then again, she always does. When it comes to recycling outfits, this royal is a repeat offender, which is why her fans lovingly call her “thrifty Kate”.

Kristen Dunst
Kirsten Dunst stepped out in Paris in January 2017, donning a white lacy dress that to the eye of an informed observer ought to have looked awfully familiar. Turns out, the actress previously have donned the very same dress at a Vanity Fair Oscars party back in 2004. Previously, Dunst accessorized the outfit with some very different arm candy this time around. While reports surfaced of her engagement to Fargo costar Jesse Plemons.

Kiera Knightly
People made a big fuss over Keira Knightley’s wedding dress, namely because it was a Chanel dress that she had been photographed in before. “How bohemian,” they said, but really, it was a practical choice for the British star herself. Not only is the garment one that she truly loved, but it was also made by a close friend just for her – the late Karl Lagerfeld, natch.

Rita Moreno
Not only did Rita Moreno make a triumphant return to the Academy Awards in 2018, but her dress did, too. The 87-year-old Hollywood legend returned to the Oscars red carpet sporting the iconic black-and-gold gown she wore to the 1962 Oscars, where she won the award for best supporting actress for “West Side Story.”

Michelle Obama
When Barrack Obama took the stage with his family after the announcement of Presidential victory in 2012, many people noticed that Michelle Obama‘s look was a bit familiar. The burgundy silk brocade dress, by Michael Kors, was in fact a repeat. She wore the same outfit in 2010, at a ceremony honoring Army Staff Sergeant Salvatore Giunta, with a cropped black cardigan and a pin by Alexis Bittar. But that wasn’t even the first time we’d seen it. She was photographed in the same dress in 2009, descending the White House steps with her husband.

Celebrities are just like us. Sometimes even they decide to repeat outfits and it looks like they’ve no shame in doing so!
