Last year, HBO Max revealed that it was developing Snyder’s original cut as a mini-series. However, now the team has confirmed that the upcoming project will release in the format of a movie on March 18, 2021.

This eventually prompted HBO Max to step in and purchase the movie rights of Snyder’s original work for future release.
Snyder’s cut versus the 2017 movie
Zack Snyder’s ‘Justice League’ will not be set in the same continuity as the 2017 version. However, it will be accurate in its timeline so that subsequent movies like ‘Aquaman’ and ‘Wonder Woman’ make sense. Also, the upcoming project will be completely novel, devoid of any scene from Whedon’s movie of 2017. It will bring to the viewers more plotlines, myths, action sequences and new characters, and have the 1.66:1 aspect ratio. The project is quite expensive as around 70 million dollars have been calculated as the cost of the additional shoot which was completed in November 2020.
