John Dutton: Exhausted and done?
This season was heavy on John Dutton who, by the end of it, looked exhausted. The future of his ranch has him worried and going back on forth over the decision to retain it or sell it for half a billion dollars.
And, as he is announcing the shocking decision of selling the ranch, a mysterious van pulls up and fires at him using assault rifles. In the confusion and commotion of the entire attack, one cannot be sure whether the bullet that was aimed for John’s heart and hits his phone, affected him in any serious way or not, but John is not coming out of this unscathed if he is not already dead. So, what about the rest?
Beth: No way she survived
A rather evil favourite of the show, Beth was playing smart all season by playing dirty with market equities, but Jamie is not someone easy to fool. While Beth releases a story on Willa suggesting that she has committed sexual assault on an employee, Willa promises that she will get her much-deserved revenge on Beth.

And Willa didn’t take much time in doing so. Beth’s assistant delivers a box addressed to her, and before Beth can tell her not to open it, the box blows up, killing the assistant, blasting windows, and the cars parked outside. Looking at the level of destruction, it is highly unlikely that Beth survived the attack. With so much bad stuff that she already went through last season, this isn’t how she meets her end, or is it?
Rip Wheeler: A very questionable man, indeed
Wheeler seems to have made a habit of doing bad things and coming home to tell Beth about it. After killing off Roarke’s hired men in the episode before the finale, he comes home and tells Beth about it.
And, after a heated discussion on how “morality isn’t even real”, Wheeler decides to do something truly unthinkable. Hidden in his desire to propose is the decision to dig up the grave of his dead mother and get the ring off of her corpse. Well, there might not be a proposal to look forward to, and Wheeler might have sold his soul to the devil for no reason at all.
Kayce Dutton: What is the future looking like?
Kayce, by the end of the season, is a serious contender to run for the governor. Since the execution of the cattle thieves, the citizens of the town like him, consider him a good leader and are ready to put their faith in him.
But the last image of him that the audience saw is of him covering behind his desk. His office is stormed into by sharpshooters who openly fire at him, while he is on a phone call with Monica. The last thing we hear is Monica yelling at him to answer, but there is none.
Season 3 of ‘Yellowstone’ might have seemed slow at the beginning, but the grim and very abrupt ending has left its audience shocked. What will the future of the show hold?
