And here’s what we know so far.
Ultimatum: The Final Ultimatum For Phase Four
Ultimatum was a 2009 limited series by writer Jeph Loeb and artist David Finch and they together brought the main heroes of the Ultimate Universe such as The Avengers, X-Men, Spider Man and The Fantastic Four all in one single edition.
One of the most controversial stories of all time, starting in 2000, the fallout from the Ultimatum series saw Scarlett Witch, Quicksilver, former Ultimates and children of mutant terrorist Magneto die.
Swearing revenge on The Ultimates and of course like any other madman- humanity in general, Magneto steals Thor’s hammer (not bound by worthiness) and combines lightning with his own power to bring destruction to earth and a whole array of natural disasters.

More catastrophe follows in New York, home to many of Marvel’s superheroes and what follows is untold number of casualties including Doctor Strange, Cyclops, Wasp, Daredevil, Invisible Woman and Wolverine. He even, mad with power, goes on to kill Charles Xavier. In an attempt to save from even further hell from breaking loose Nick Fury is brought in who confronts Magneto and tells him the origin of mutant species.
The mutant species are not man’s next step into evolution but a man-made genetic mutation research on Wolverine which went to spread globally. The mutants went on to become a literal plague from being simply feared.
The Ultimate Marvel Cinematic Universe
The choice for Ultimatum to be potential new arc for Phase Four certainly is a controversial choice. Not only was it very poorly received by the fans and critics alike in the past, wouldn’t Marvel like to live past it’s Phase 4 era?
The death toll was huge and deaths were poorly handled. Characters like Wasp and Blob had particularly violent deaths that included cannibalism and mainstream character like Daredevil and Angle were killed off-panel.
Marvel does follow a very convenient method of changing plot lines and source method for it’s own needs to fit it in the mold it wants to create. We have seen that pattern being followed in Avengers: Civil War to the Infinity Gauntlet.

A possible way for Marvel to do that would be to kill off Scarlett Witch who is presumed to be the daughter of Magneto which would bring X-Men into the mix and to save the earth from being destroyed while the Avengers would need help from the Fantastic Four.
What Should We Expect
Although, it is unlikely we see Marvel going the violent, cannibalistic way but it seems like a viable option for both the worlds of Disney, Fox superheroes to come together to form one storyline. Some elements of Ultimatum will definitely be making an appearance in the next phase to tie everything together.
But we can only guess, what Marvel has up it’s sleeve is only for Marvel and Marvel to know. Till then, let’s try our best to break the codes, clues and contain our excitement for this new era that stands like a tall, mysterious but very attractive shadow in front of us.
