Wanda to re-cast Michael Fassbender as Magneto in ‘WandaVision’ cameo?
It’s fascinating to see all the Marvel characters and families coming together in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Disney acquired 21st Century Fox in March 2019. It opened the possibilities of X-Men interfering in MCU and interacting with the Avengers.
It was predicted long ago that ‘WandaVision’ could potentially act as the stage to welcome X-men into MCU. Now with six episodes of the Disney+ miniseries already out, we have a clear view of how things are playing out.
Michael Fassbender’s version of Magneto to enter the MCU as Wanda recasts her father after Pietro.
‘WandaVision’ has already hinted at the origin of mutants in its latest episodes. The return of a character from Wanda’s past has almost confirmed the X-men theories as well. ‘WandaVision’ is also expected to introduce the multiverse phenomenon in MCU with a ‘Doctor Strange’ cameo.
With so much going on, there’s another rumour suggesting that ‘WandaVision’ might feature a cameo of the X-men antagonist Magneto, as Wanda recasts Michael Fassbender using her powers.
Wanda brings back Quicksilver – but not the same one
The possibilities of X-men’s Magneto making an appearance in ‘WandaVision’ were hovering around for long enough. However, fans found it hard to theorize how Marvel will pull it off.
But recently in the shocking finale moments of Episode 5, Quicksilver aka Peter Maximoff returned to the MCU. Peter, played by Aaron Taylor in MCU, was Wanda’s twin and was killed during the final battle of ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ while trying to save Hawkeye.
But what is actually surprising is the fact that the Peter who returned in ‘WandaVision’ isn’t played by Aaron, but instead by Even Peters, who plays the X-men version of Quicksilver.
Now it’s not confirmed yet if the character is actually the X-men’s Quicksilver, or it’s just Marvel doing some fan-service by casting the fan-favourite Quicksilver actor to play MCU’s Quicksilver.
But, in either case, it opened the doors for Michael Fassbender’s cameo as MCU’s Magneto, or to bring his X-men version of Magneto in MCU through ‘WandaVision’.
A bewildered Dr Darcy Lewis gives an exposition in the final moments of episode 5 by saying “She recast Pietro?” This could be the key to Magneto’s entry into MCU.
Why would Marvel introduce Magneto in ‘WandaVision’?
X-men are destined to enter the MCU as Marvel now has an absolute right over the characters, and it just makes sense for the direction MCU is heading in.
However, MCU fans who are not familiar with Marvel comics aren’t able to digest the theories of Magneto appearing in ‘WandaVision’.
Why would Magneto be a part of ‘WandaVision’? Well, keeping aside all the fascinating theories of X-men’s role in MCU Phase 4, let’s consider a basic fact.
Magneto is the father of Wanda Maximoff and Peter in the comics. Shocked? Good enough. This is enough of a reason for Magneto to have a cameo in ‘WandaVision’ either in the Fassbender’s version or a new MCU version.
What do you think? Will X-men become a part of MCU with Fassbender’s cameo appearance as Magneto in ‘WandaVision’? Do you think just like Pietro, Wanda will also recast Magneto, or Marvel will introduce a new version of Magneto? Let us know what you think by commenting in the box below.
