With every episode, ‘WandaVision’ is getting more and more intense. The show is turning out to be the most intense thing in MCU, even more, intense than ‘Infinity War’ and ‘Endgame’. Episode 8 of ‘WandaVision’ brought most of the pieces of Wanda’s anomaly together. But it only screwed our brains further. Towards the end of Episode 8 of ‘WandaVision’, Agatha Harkness finally introduced us to the Scarlet Witch of the MCU, and the fans are freaking out over this comic-card thrown by Marvel. ‘WandaVision’ Episode 8 went too far with its fan-service, Wanda-service, and Marvel comic-service. It served all, and it served just right. Towards the end of Episode 8 of ‘WandaVision’, Agatha Harkness (Kathryn Hahn) finally introduced the Scarlet Witch into the MCU.
Finally, ‘WandaVision’ brings the true Scarlet Witch from Marvel Comics into MCU – what does it mean for the future of MCU?
Well, if in case you are wondering that Marvel made someone else Scarlet Witch than Wanda, then don’t worry. Wanda Maximoff is the Scarlet Witch in the Marvel comics, one of the most powerful superheroes, able to harness the Chaos Magic. However, in MCU till now, Wanda was just Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen), she wasn’t given the title of Scarlet Witch.
But in today’s episode, as Agatha Harkness held the Twins’ life on the noose with her magic, she told Wanda who Wanda really is, and how capable she is. She reveals to Wanda that she has no idea of her own powers, and she’s busy making dinner in her sitcom reality.
Agatha Harkness announces:
“You have no idea how dangerous you [Wanda] are. You are supposed to be a myth. A being capable of spontaneous creation, and here you are, using it to make breakfast for dinner…. – this whole little life you’ve made, this is Chaos Magic, Wanda. And that makes you the Scarlet Witch.” [Goosebumps].
What are the powers of Scarlet Witch in Marvel Comics?
The key power Scarlet Witch posses in Marvel comics is the “Chaos Magic”, which has now also been introduced in MCU with ‘WandaVision’.
Other powers of Scarlet Witch in Comics are Illumination, Matter Transmutation, Nexus Being, Powers of Life and Death, Probability Alteration, Psychometry, Precognition, Magic, Mind Control, Healing Factor, Reality Warping, Control of Elements, Psionics, Communing with Deceased Spirits.
All of these powers have always kept her on top of the power spectrum of Marvel Comics. Scarlet Witch in the comics has been a part of Avengers for the majority of the time, she also has relations with X-men.
Apparently, one of the comic-origins of Wanda has her adopted by Magneto and raised as his own daughter. Wanda aka Scarlet Witch is a mutant born with powers in comics, and she was taught magic by Agatha Harkness.

Wanda is a part of MCU and Avengers since ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’. However, a majority of fans who know her to be the Scarlet Witch from the comics never noticed that not even once she was addressed by this name till now.
Agatha Harkness revealed to Wanda that she’s the Scarlett Witch – the possessor of Chaos Magic, and a being capable of spontaneous creation.
For the first time in MCU, in ‘WandaVision’, she is termed by the name ‘Scarlet Witch’ by Agatha Harkness. What it means for MCU is that it has got the most powerful superhero in the current timeline. Till now, Wanda showed off limited power, which was still more destructive than most of the other heroes but was still capped.
Now with the official introduction of Wanda as Scarlet Witch in the MCU, we can expect her to possess power beyond limits. ‘WandaVision’ has already demonstrated a series of Scarlet Witch’s powers.
From Chaos Magic to Mind Control, to Reality Wrapping, to Power of Life and Death, and several others. Though most of her powers were just tapped upon, we can expect Wanda’s powers to influence the future of the MCU.
