Black Widow release date might have been pushed due to coronavirus, but that does not stop fans from analysing the movie’s trailers for hidden Easter Eggs. We have a theory on the biggest one yet!
Natasha Romanoff, Yelena Belova, the Red Guardian, and the Taskmaster have starred in three Black Widow trailers and have given us numerous Easter Eggs to base theories on. One such Easter Egg, that is placed in the middle of the third trailer, has left fans in a frenzy.
It is giving so many ideas and makes one wonder if Marvel is planning on some big revelations in the future phases 4 and 5. One such idea derives a theory that is as shocking as they come. Natasha Romanoff never died in Avengers: Endgame, it was Yelena Belova!

Did you spot the Easter Egg in Black Widow trailer 3?
It was a small shot that could have been easily missed unless you had the eyes for it. In the Black Widow 3 trailer, we see Yelena Belova lying down in a white room for an apparent surgery. If you pause and zoom in, (have you done that already?) you will see scars on Yelena Belova’s face. It seems almost as if someone (most probably Natasha Romanoff) has got plastic surgery and changed their face to that of Yelena Belova!

This scar on Yelena Belova’s face has made fans wonder about the future course that the MCU timeline will take. Since the Black Widow movie is set after the events of ‘Captain America: Civil War’ and way before ‘Avengers: Endgame’ in which we see Natasha Romanoff die.
This timeline opens up doors to the most shocking revelation that is waiting for in Marvel Phase 4— Natasha Romanoff if alive, it was Yelena Belova who sacrificed herself for the soul stone. But could that really be true? Let’s find out.
Natasha Romanoff is alive, it was Yelena Belova who died in ‘Avengers: Endgame’
In one scenario, Yelena Belova’s scar might not have anything to do with Natasha Romanoff. But the scenario in which Natasha Romanoff has turned into Yelena Belova after plastic surgery is a shocking one. In such a timeline, we might not have seen the actual Natasha Romanoff in MCU for a long time now.
During her mission in Russia (after the Civil War), it is possible that she swapped her place with Yelena Belova. Since Hawkeye knows about Russia in the Battle of New York, it is possible that he knows Yelena Belova and deeply cares about her just like he cares about Natasha Romanoff.
So, while Black Widow sacrifices herself for the soul stone, Hawkeye is truly and genuinely devastated. But there is one glitch in all this. While she is sacrificing for the Soul Stone, Red Skull takes Natasha’s father’s name (Ivan Romanoff). So, it raises doubts that she could be Yelena in Natasha’s face. But on the other hand, Marvel Comics do not give a clue about who is Yelena’s father.
So, if MCU does try to portray the idea of a swap, they could somehow mould the storyline to say that Natasha Romanoff and Yelena Belova are actual sisters and not just sisters through the Black Widow franchise.
What do you think? Could it be possible that the two Black Widows swapped their faces? What story does Yelena Belova’s surgical scar pen down for you? Share with us in the comments section.
