Turns out not all hope is lost! ABC’s Lost might be coming back with season 7 this year, and the reboot will answer all questions we were left with.
Created by Damon Lindelof, J.J. Abrams, and Jeffrey Lieber, Lost was one of the shows that ruled the TV industry in the last decade. It was one of the finest sci-fi dramas that had a colossal impact on contemporary pop-culture.
Highlights:
- Ten years later, Lost remains an iconic show
- All questions Lost left unanswered
- Reboot to be launched this year
Since its genesis, Lost has been known to inspire many science fictions and mystery dramas we know today. The complicated-but-meticulous design of the show had left us looking for answers following its conclusion. Well, giddy up because season 7 of Lost might be underway and the reboot might have the answer to all our questions.
10 years later, Lost still remains an iconic show
American sci-fi drama Lost follows a bunch of plane crash survivors who end up on a dark, mysterious island. The group of survivors embark on a series of adventures as they fight with the island’s unknown forces, monsters, strange inhabitants, and with each other.
The show is a perfect rendition of the “survival of the fittest” as the characters struggle to stay alive and liberate themselves from challenging situations. What made the show earn its iconic status was its stellar cast and its complex plot. The story is told in a non-linear way that employs a lot of flash-forwards, flashbacks, as well as parallel movements.

Lost ended its course in 2010, but the fans have always been teased with the idea for a reboot. Ten years after its finale, we might finally be getting a reboot with season 7 of Lost.
All the questions Lost left unanswered
The ending of Lost left viewers split. The metaphysical conclusion of the show received mixed reactions as some loved it and the others loathed it. One of the major problems with Lost was the over-complication of the plot with too many intertwined mysteries.
This left the audience exhausted and confused, trying to find answers. The ending of ‘Lost’ left too many questions unanswered and they have haunted us for a long time.

One of the biggest mysteries that Lost never addressed surrounds the cabin. Although, initially it was known to have belonged to Jacob, later it was revealed that Jacob had perhaps been living at the statue’s base the whole time. The question is who, then, had been living in the cabin all this while? The second question concerns Walt.
The show never really explained as to why and where he got his special powers from, leaving us looking for answers. Another question that haunts us still is how did Eloise know so much about the tiniest of the tiny things and where did she get the knowledge to bring the group back on the island.
The significance of the numbers “4, 8, 15, 16, 23, 42” is yet another question we would like the show to answer. While we have been given answers for many of the whats and whys, we don’t have explanations for the hows. Whether Lost is coming back with season 7 and will the reboot offer us the answers we crave, is another question.
Reboot to be launched this year
Lost ended while keeping the door open for a lot of possibilities. The questions that the show had left us with kept us awake at night, wondering and hoping for a reboot. Every now and then, talks about the possibility of a reboot for the show have surfaced and subsided. Taking on Reddit, a fan said, “So ABC has been heavily considering a reboot for the lost series and honestly I would be up for it! … personally, I would like to know what happened to those who left the island and those who stayed after the series finale as I feel like their stories were completely left incomplete”.
Sadly, Jean Higgins, executive producer of Lost, denied having any plans for a reboot. The Observer notes that when a colleague approached Higgins regarding the show’s reboot, she said, “No, there’s no Lost. I don’t know if you could do it again. It’s lightning in a bottle. I think it would be okay, but it would always be compared to the first”.
Lost might not yet be returning with a season 7 reboot to answer our questions, but hopefully, someday it will! What questions would you like an answer to after the finale of Lost? Let us know your thoughts!
