Donald Trump is under treatment for Covid-19 but radical groups and individuals on twitter are wishing President Trump dies.
After President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump tested positive for coronavirus, the twitter is inundated with reactions. While most of the people including the opponent Democrats hoped for the speedy recovery of the President, a large number of people vehemently wish on twitter that Trump dies. Trump falls under the vulnerable age group of covid-19 and is therefore, under critical medical scrutiny.
After insensitive hate from twiterraties, Twitter finally released a notice saying-
Content that wishes, hopes or expresses a desire for death, serious bodily harm, or fatal disease against an individual is against our rules.
Twitter officially said that such remarks are abusive in nature and any account explicitly wishing for the President to die due to coronavirus will result in removal of that tweet. Additionally the related twitter account will be put to read only mode.
However, twitter’s step to take down the tweets that wish President Trump dies, prompted huge waves of backlash.
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez tweeted in response, “So… you mean to tell us you could’ve done this the whole?” Alexandria revealed last year that she receives online death threats in a huge amount almost everyday, forcing her to review the profiles of men who wanted to kill her.
This notice was released by Twitter on Motherboard. When asked, how does Twitter plan to remove all the tweets that wish President Trump dies, they replied —
Won’t take enforcement action on every Tweet. We’re prioritizing the removal of content when it has a clear call to action that could potentially cause real-world harm.
