Disregarding the logic of quarantine, President Donald Trump drove around the hospital waving at his supporters. He sat in the backseat of an SUV, accompanied by two Secret Service agents sitting in front, conveniently exposing them to the virus.
On Sunday afternoon, President Trump did a drive-by around his hospital, Walter Reed military medical center, while being accompanied by two other Secret Service agents. While Trump’s supporters rejoiced at the President’s move, there was heavy backlash from doctors at the hospital where he is being treated.

Watch: Confusion surrounds Trump’s condition as he makes a drive-by.
Backlash from Doctors at Walter Reed
Attending physician at Walter Reed and doctor of emergency medicine at George Washington University, James Phillips called the stunt ‘insanity’. He tweeted, “Every single person in the vehicle during that completely unnecessary Presidential ‘drive-by’ just now has to be quarantined for 14 days. They might get sick. They may die. For political theater. Commanded by Trump to put their lives at risk for theater. This is insanity.”
Dr. Phillips continued in another tweet, “That Presidential SUV is not only bulletproof, but hermetically sealed against chemical attack. The risk of COVID19 transmission inside is as high as it gets outside of medical procedures. The irresponsibility is astounding. My thoughts are with the Secret Service forced to play.”
In another tweet, Jonathan Reiner, professor of medicine and surgery at George Washington University school of medicine and health services, said “By taking a joy ride outside Walter Reed the president is placing his Secret Service detail at grave risk.” “In the hospital when we go into close contact with a COVID patient we dress in full PPE: Gown, gloves, N95, eye protection, hat. This is the height of irresponsibility.”
The president was witnessed wearing a mask along with his Secret Service Agents, waving at his flag-bearing supporters through the windows of his black SUV. Soon after the drive, the White House released a public notice clarifying that President Trump had no further public appearances or plans.
Recently, Secret Service agents of President Trump openly addressed how Trump hardly cares about them and how much they have been exposed to danger. According to the Washington Post, one agent said, “He’s never cared about us.”

The Secret Service agents who drove with Donald Trump are now quarantined for 14 days. Unsurprisingly, despite the obvious irresponsible act of the President, his supporters are cheering for him. By putting the security agents on risk despite the fact that they are the people of his administration, President Trump has made it very clear that ‘people’s lives don’t matter much for him’.

However, Melania Trump’s approach was different
The first lady of the United States has always been witnessed going in the opposite direction from her husband. And she did it again. Melania Trump refused to step out of White House and go to meet the President in the hospital. A White House staff member told NCB that Melania Trump won’t visit Donald Trump because, “That would expose the agents who would drive her there and the medical staff who would walk her up to him.”
President and the First Lady were diagnosed coronavirus positive on 1st October and were under quarantine since then. However, it seems like FLOTUS Melania Trump is more disciplined and empathetic during her quarantine than the POTUS.
