The Lord of Hell (Tom Ellis) was planning to walk the earth as James Bond once he was done being Lucifer Morningstar, but Netflix ruined his plan. Let’s see what led to these developments!
In the history of cinema, no casting has ever been discussed as much as the casting for the new James Bond. ‘No Time To Die’, which is due for release for the last couple of months, is going to be Daniel Craig’s last appearance as James Bond. Once Daniel Craig retires from the spy’s duties, there has to be another James Bond, younger, sleeker, and British. However, the hunt for a new James Bond has led nowhere till now. The latest rumours suggest that the ‘Lucifer’ star (Tom Ellis) could have been the choice for the next James Bond, but Netflix and its plans for ‘Lucifer’ Season 6 ruined all such possibilities.
- Did Tom Ellis miss a shot at James Bond because of ‘Lucifer’ Season 6?
- Netflix broke Tom Ellis’ James Bond dream.
- Fans want Tom Ellis as the next Bond.
While fans want Tom Ellis to be the next Bond after Lucifer, it’s Netflix that’s against it.
Did Tom Ellis miss a shot at James Bond because of ‘Lucifer’ Season 6?
After all, with the great fame that the character brings, James Bond must also shoulder great responsibility, and the producers want nothing to go wrong. For over a year now, several A-listers have been rumoured to be considered to play the next James Bond.
The list of actors being considered for the next Bond is as fascinating as it gets with Henry Cavill, Richard Madden, Tom Hiddleston, Sam Heughans, James Norton, and others in the line. While we all can agree that any one of them will make a great James Bond, a majority of people wants ‘The Witcher’ star Henry Cavill to dress up as 007.
However, a few months ago, several reports, including one from JIMHEATH.TV reported that the creators are also considering the ‘Lucifer’ star Tom Ellis for the role of James Bond. As sources close to the actor’s agent also revealed, the actor was also looking to grab the opportunity after his much-loved show ‘Lucifer’ ends.
This got fans hyped up. But it seems like things have taken their own course.
Did Netflix break Ellis’ Bond dream?
It was well known and was also announced by Netflix that Lucifer season 5 will be the final season of the show. Therefore, the lead Tom Ellis, who has given years to the show, was already keeping an eye on the opportunities around, and playing James Bond was probably one of them.
Netflix does not want Tom Ellis to play the next James Bond after Lucifer, and it breaks our hearts.
However, a month or two before the premiere of ‘Lucifer’ Season 5 Part 1, Netflix announced that they will be extending the show for a season 6. The announcement came in June 2020. And because season 5 was in development for over a year, and even before it was decided to be the final season, Netflix’s renewal for season 6 came too late.
So, if the rumours of Tom Ellis being considered to play James Bond after ‘Lucifer’ ended were true, then season 6 renewal has definitely ruined the dream opportunity for the actor.
Fans want Tom Ellis as the next Bond.
Not in the seven hells can someone ever doubt that Tom Ellis will make a great James Bond. And, as a matter of fact, he already does pretty much everything Bond does.
The fans of ‘Lucifer’ and Ellis have even started a petition to make Ellis the new James Bond. And the petition has crossed 5000 signatures.
The petition titled “Tom Ellis for next James Bond” on change.org says: “I don’t think this is much of a stretch. Tom Ellis while playing Lucifer does pretty much everything Bond already does; fast cars, love of women, secret missions, etc. I honestly can’t think of a more British, charming, good looking, Bondesque actor to play him.”
We can’t agree more. What? Don’t you agree with us?
Well, look at this masterfully put together YouTube video of ‘Lucifer’ clips by knightvision1228, and tell us if Tom Ellis looks any less than James Bond.
While we are not sure if Tom Ellis is or was ever officially on the cards for James Bond creators, and if the announcement of ‘Lucifer’ Season 6 ruined those plans, we can sell our soul to watch Tom Ellis walking around as Bond. And what about you, isn’t that a fair trade?
